What visitors say
Visited for an escape to nature for a walk, a guided wildflower walk was about to start, I was wholeheartedly welcomed to join along. Best 2 hours of my day, learnt so much from passionate and knowledgeable Alice. I feel better equipped to push my garden further towards supporting nature as a whole ecosystem. Thank you

Wonderful peaceful place to go for a walk and take in some nature. This area is my go to place locally for walking the dogs, pathways are extensive and mixed, in relatively good condition (although some eroded by River Clyde) and currently there is obviously some work going on to provide markers and new information boards. If visiting please take your litter with you, I often see volunteers cleaning it up which they shouldn’t have to.

It is an absolutely beautiful place for a walk. As well as the lovely scenery there are plenty of nooks and crannies to explore. There is a lovely graveyard dating from the 17th century, a mausoleum, gardens, a walkway along the river Clyde and various bird hides. The castle itself is huge however it is private and you cannot go in. I would highly recommend Dalzell and Barons Haugh. If you head down early in the morning there are always plenty of deer wandering around.

Nice walk through the woodland. Great place for watching wildlife. On our recent trip saw some deer and a bird of prey, not sure what type, perhaps a buzzard. Wear suitable shoes as it can get wet and muddy.
