Had a lovely meal at the wheatsheaf , had to book 2 weeks in advance and was at 14.00 so was starving when we arrived.went to the bar first, got drinks then shown to our table. Told we could go straight to the carvery....the chef cut the meat then placed it ,a Yorkshire pud and stuffing into our plates,we helped ourselves to boiled/roast potatoes.red and white cabbage.carrots peas broccoli and cauliflower cheese.there was a small pot of pork crackling, and apple sauce . At the end of the station was a large pot of gravy which tasted fantastic. Service was great,we then had a choice of puddings there were 4 or so Sundays and about 10 other options brought to you on a chalk board too choose from . I chose the creme brulé which was lovely and I would recommend. The tables were nicely spaced (some could do with a revarnish) but otherwise was a really enjoyable meal , would definitely go again.

A reslly good home-cooked meal tonight at the Wheatsheaf. I had the prawn cocktail with a lovely fresh crisp salad. My Dad loved the garlic mushrooms in a creamy sauce with a crusty baguette and dressed green salad. Similarly generous portions and good quality ingredients in the main courses. Real home cooked chips with our scampi and our gammon, pineapple and egg. Although we were nicely full and didn’t have dessert we liked the sound of some of the Easter special puddings such as Hot Cross Bun Bread and Butter Pudding and the Cream Egg Sundae! Service was welcoming and personal. The pub has a down-to-earth, traditional feel with friendly locals. Well worth a visit, we will go again to the Wheatsheaf.

We came back for the beef burgers for second time. Still the same massive portion but so tasty you cannot stop yourself until is all gone. Lovely open garden to enjoy your meal and a quiet drink with plenty of space for kids and dogs to join. Staff is extremely friendly and always there to help. The parking lot is only meters away from the entrance with plenty of space available. Three happy Bulgarians would definitely come back again very soon.

First time eating at the Wheatsheaf, and it will not be the last. The food was simply delicious 😋. On the menu was steak & ale pie with chips and peas, and on the specials board, there was liver with seasonal veg, mashed potatoes and onion, and bacon gravy. As I did not fancy the chips and peas, I asked if I could have the seasonal veg mashed potatoes with the bacon and onion gravy, and they were more than happy to accommodate my request 😋 it was absolutely delicious. My partner had the fish pie and she said it was also delicious 😋. Staff we had contact with were friendly and helpful.
