About Holiday Inn Express Leeds East

Aberford Road runs out towards the edge of Leeds, and it's here that Holiday Inn Express Leeds East offers a practical base for visiting the city and the surrounding area. The hotel is spread across two floors, with 77 rooms including family and accessible options, all with en-suite bathrooms and finished in a modern, uncomplicated style. Rooms are generally cosy and clean, though some guests have noted the atmosphere can get noisy, so light sleepers may want to bear that in mind.

Breakfast is included and free parking comes as standard, both useful if you're arriving by car or setting off early. There's a restaurant and bar on site, along with meeting rooms for those travelling on business, plus luggage storage for anyone squeezing in a full day before checking out. Staff are consistently described as friendly and accommodating, happy to help with local recommendations or practical requests.

Beyond the hotel there's a golf course nearby for those wanting a round, along with further pubs and restaurants within easy reach for evenings out. Pets are welcome too, making this a fuss-free option for a night or two on the eastern edge of Leeds.

I had exceptional service here, the desk staff were really friendly and welcoming and really got us out of a bind as another local hotel had left us without a place to stay. We had a brisk breakfast on our departure day. The room was great and I loved the bathroom set up as it was quite big and had a great shower.

The moment we arrived at the hotel we got a bad feeling. There were people milling around the reception area whose stay obviously funded by the tax payer. The rooms were reasonable but there were no USB charging points and the toilet was difficult to flush. We were awoken in the early hours by screaming kids in the room next door and again at 6am. The breakfast experience was horrendous to say the least. They ran out of bacon and there were no muffins or pastries. The coffee was undrinkable and the orange juice was a misnomer. It should have been labelled 'insipid pale yellow juice'. The surroundings were not at all welcoming, the breakfast area was full of guest who were not self-funding. On a positive side, the receptionist, Faye, was extremely helpful and gladly arranged a taxi for our party. Had I known that this hotel was accommodating guests at the behest of the Government, I would not have stayed there. It should be made clear when booking that it is housing tax payer funded guests. Despite what IHG say about their commitment to the customer experience, it is obvious that they only care about making the maximum profit from Government contracts. We will never visit one of their hotels again.

When I came to this hotel the staff were very amazing and polite, so that stood out to me so much and especially one women named Tasha she was amazing at breakfast times and just normal times, she was always asking if you need any help which is amazing so she was very nice, caring and lovely towards children.

This Hotel is used by the local council for homeless families either single mothers or Asylum seekers. Breakfast was a combination of a crèche and a school canteen! Kids running around all over, touching all the food. We walked out. We will never ever stop here again and are now worried this could in other Holiday Inn’s!
