What visitors say
A superb place to visit and learn about the Scalloway fishing industry throughout the ages. Not forgetting the Shetland Bus a clandestine WW2 espionage service carried out in disguised fishing boats against the German Navy criss crossing the North Sea to Norway to deliver vital supplies and weapons to fight with German Army. Very brave men and women. I'd definitely recommend visiting here. Thank you 😀🏴🇳🇴👍

What a little gem this museum is. Full of such interesting stuff, well presented with cleat storyboard. The Shetland Bus story was very moving indeed. The ladies on the desk were very friendly and welcoming. We went back a second time, using the free return ticket. Although at £5 entry is not exactly expensive. With picnic tables outside it is a super spot to spend some time.

Excellent exhibits relating to ‘the shetland bus’ a SOE activity in WWII when local fishing boats were used to transport agents into occupied Norway.

Small museum next to Scalloway castle with free parking. £5 for entrance for a whole year per person. There are lots of detailed posters that accompany the exhibits, which provide rich information about history of Scalloway, especially in relation to fishery (cod, mussel, herring) and Shetland bus. Would prefer listening to an audio guide rather than reading detailed posters (but no audio guide available). Of note, there are two Shetland ponies next to the Scalloway museum.
