Wirral Country Park Caravan and Motorhome Club Campsite

Coastal club site at Thurstaston, about 12 miles from Liverpool across the Mersey

About Wirral Country Park Caravan and Motorhome Club Campsite

This Caravan and Motorhome Club site sits inside Wirral Country Park at Thurstaston, roughly twelve miles from Liverpool via the Mersey tunnels or the train line beneath the river. The pitching areas—split into smaller grassy pockets sheltered by trees rather than one exposed field—look west across the Dee estuary toward the hills of North Wales, and on clear evenings the sunsets are the main reason people rebook. Regulars praise the warm welcome, well-kept facilities and peaceful atmosphere, though a few note the site can feel a little tired in places and prices sit at the higher end.

Hardstandings and electric hook-up are widely available for caravans, motorhomes and small campervans; tents are not accepted. Facilities include showers, laundry, chemical disposal, gas and electric vehicle charging. The twelve-mile Wirral Way footpath and cycle route runs right past the gate, the estuary shore below is excellent for birdwatching on autumn high tides, and local sailing clubs welcome temporary members. For Liverpool itself, drive to a nearby Merseyrail station and let the train carry you under the river.

We used the park as a stop over en -route to the lakes. The park overall and location is fine. The park sadly is just showing it's age and is in much need of re-investment in road infrastructure, lots of pot holes, poor surfaces. Showers showing there age, clean and well kept but old, no bench seats in shower cubicles, not enough hooks but nice hot showers which is what I really want. Traffic from motorway M56/A55 in peak is worth avoiding. Arrived and Depart via the Arrowe park M53 route. Devon Doorway in Heswall, great lunches, and evening menu, friendly staff and dog friendly. Walks and cycling from site on paths and down to beach were some of the best we have had access to on our holidays What I couldn't fault is the smiling faces and friendly welcoming wardens on arrival, during our stay and answering any questions I had. Come on CAMC support your wardens hard work and invest in what could and should be a fabulous park! Overall 4 out 5 only marked down as site and facilities showing their age. But a great place to explore The Wirral, Chester and surrounding area. 👍

Expensive for what it is at £40 per night. Toilet / shower facilities are fine but old. Very '80s. Great location on the beach. We had an issue with our plot as we were put on an exposed corner near the entrance. We asked to move after having several people and cars driving across our plot and out of concern for our dogs safety. Was then charged £2 to change plots, which is ridiculous, given the circumstances. Won't be returning.

Well maintained site with clean facilities, friendly wardens, great pitches. Good location and a great cycle track from the site into West Kirby. Our children loved the play ground and the country park was great for walks and fishing.

Fantastic site for walking, with river views. Great place to start and finish Liverpool Belfast ferry crossing. Highly recommended
