About Crowne Plaza Liverpool John Lennon Airport

Speke Boulevard runs along the edge of Liverpool, close to the airport and within easy reach of the city centre, and it's here that Crowne Plaza Liverpool John Lennon Airport makes its home. The surrounding area mixes retail parks and business estates with green pockets nearby, including Speke Hall, making it a practical base whether you're passing through or staying a while.

The hotel's 164 rooms lean into an Art Deco design, with comfortable beds and en-suite bathrooms throughout, plus family and accessible options. Facilities span a restaurant, bar, room service and drinks brought straight to your door, along with a spa and sauna for winding down. Business travellers are well catered for too, with meeting rooms and dedicated services on site, and there's chargeable parking along with an electric vehicle charge point. Air conditioning is fitted throughout, though it's worth noting some rooms have had issues keeping it running reliably.

Beyond the hotel, the local area offers a golf course, pubs, restaurants and entertainment options within easy reach, alongside the retail parks that make this a convenient stop for shopping. Pets are welcome, and with three floors served by a lift, it's a straightforward, well-equipped stay close to the airport.

As noted in previous reviews the hotel is an attractive period building with an appropriate aviation theme throughout, very well designed and presented. My room was clean and comfortable, but the heating and air conditioning still doesn’t work. What really lets this place down is the appalling restaurant provision. On the night of my arrival the restaurant was closed, as it was still being cleaned after a party. No problem, I had a mediocre curry that I imagine was familiar with the inside of a microwave in the small and crowded bar. Breakfast (or rather the absence of it) the following morning was a disaster. A long wait whilst tables were cleared, a non-functioning coffee machine, no hot buffet items remaining, and just three harassed members of staff trying their best to cope. I did eventually get an incinerated croissant and a cold fried egg, but nothing to drink. Absolutely dreadful. Dinner that night was a distinct improvement (although they had no pizza), and the superb cheesecake earned a third star, and breakfast on the second morning was adequate to good. I stayed here on business for the convenience of the location, but if I had been paying for the experience for leisure I would have been most dissatisfied. This could be a great hotel that deserves its star rating if the catering were to be subjected to an urgent and radical overhaul.

The hotel is in a great location. It was the old airport terminal and is a very good art deco style building. The check in was quick but when we got to the room the power sockets didn't work and we had to be moved. Forty five minutes later we had moved rooms. We went down to dinner but this was a disaster as apparently the supplier had let the hotel down and there were virtually no food options. At 9pm we went over the road to the retail park and had dinner in Wagamama. The air conditioning had broken down a few days before we arrived and after a 3 day stay it still wasn't fixed. There were fans in the room but these were not great. The hotel interior is excellent and the premium king room was spacious. A few improvements would really help to make this hotel so much better.

Not the best hotel nor the worst I have stayed in. Visually a nice hotel and the staff are all very friendly and helpful. But when you look a bit deeper into your stay the rooms, décor and eye to detail is lacking from unclean bedding, broken and miss fitted window locks to basic things like TV channels not working. There are some good touches like fridges with fizzy and still water and nice powerful showers. It is a 3 star hotel, but bring the hotel back to it's former glory would mak this a 4 star hotel and a really nice place to stay

This hotel is an absolute dump, yet they feel £150 for one night is acceptable! The check in process was a mess, there was one person running the bar and reception, the queue was out the door and round the corner and took about 2 hours! The AC was turned off, and the temp in our room was over 30 degrees on a very hot day, and the fans they supplied were useless! Disgustingly, our bathroom was infested with flies!!! They were everywhere, all bunched up on the walls and on the glasses, taps, in the toilet, bath etc!! Also, when we initially got to our replacement room, there was left over food outside somebodies room. The next day, over 24 hours later, it was still there, covered in flies!!! The staff are not at fault as they were doing everything they could, it is just terribly ran. The only good thing is its proximity to the airport, if you happen to have a flight. Other than that, it was the worse hotel I have ever stayed in.
