About Holiday Inn Liverpool City Centre
A cooked breakfast spread and a proper evening menu set the tone at Holiday Inn Liverpool City Centre, with a restaurant and bar on site along with a snack bar and room service for anyone who'd rather eat in. Kids' meals and packed lunches are catered for too, useful for families or early starts. Staff are generally friendly and helpful, though service has been known to vary a little at busier times.
The hotel sits on Lime Street, right by the train station and within easy reach of the shops, with 139 rooms across seven floors including family and accessible options, all with en-suite bathrooms, air conditioning and free WiFi. Rooms come in for particular praise for their size, and city views are available for those who want them. There's also a gym, spa and sauna for winding down, plus meeting rooms and business facilities for anyone travelling for work.
Beyond the hotel, the Royal Albert Dock and the Beatles Story are both within reach, and there's no shortage of pubs, bars and restaurants nearby. Pets are welcome, laundry and luggage storage are on hand, and parking is available at a nearby chargeable car park rather than on site.
What guests say
Very nice stay here. We had a family room which had two big double beds in one room, and a living space in the other. We had a baby with us, and the hotel did provide a travel cot for us to use for the night. Room was pretty decent, bathrooms were clean, and we made use of the ironing board & iron that was kept in the wardrobe. We didn’t use the hotels facilities apart from having breakfast in the morning, so I can’t comment on the other facilities. The location is probably its strongest point - being literally directly opposite the train station. Parking is easy enough and cheap. You go in the multi story which is next door, and as long as you are a paying guest of the hotel, you can get a parking discount - which for us was £6.50 per 24hrs. But you must remember to give your reg number to the receptionist when you arrive to get the discount. It’s also surprisingly quiet there too considering it’s around a lively area. Would I stay here again? Yes I probably would.

Stayed at the Holiday Inn, Lime Street while visiting Liverpool to see Moulin Rouge. The hotel is in an excellent location directly opposite the train station and the theatre and only a short walk from the shopping centre and the Albert Dock. The staff were all friendly, helpful and professional. Owen checked us in and was very pleasant and welcoming. The staff at breakfast were again friendly, helpful and professional with lovely conversation and suggestions for things to do in the city. Unfortunately I didn't get the name for the two staff who were on duty when we checked out this morning but they were also very friendly and helpful and arranged to hold our bags while we spent some time shopping before our train. The room was pleasant and comfortable with everything we needed. The USB plugs next to the bed were useful. The bathroom could benefit from a towel rail near the sink but that's the only very slight criticism. We wouldn't hesitate to book again next time we are in Liverpool.

I am writing this review while I am still staying at the hotel. We stayed here from 13-16 July 2026, and after just the first night, it already feels like a nightmare. We stayed in Room 605, a family room for 4 people. As soon as we entered the room, it felt very hot and stuffy. The air conditioning was extremely weak, and the air coming from the vent was warm, almost like a car with a broken air conditioner on a hot sunny day. We tried adjusting the air conditioning, but later found out it is a central system. We turned the airflow to the highest setting and waited for over two hours, but nothing changed. We were convinced the air conditioning was not working properly, so we asked the reception for help. A staff member came to inspect the room. He said the air conditioning was "acceptable" and explained that Liverpool was experiencing a heatwave, so the system was under heavy demand. I told him that such a hot and stuffy room was not acceptable. He could only offer us a standing fan and said a technician would come the next morning to check the system. After another two uncomfortable hours, I went back to reception. While I was there, another guest from the same floor was complaining that the hotel Wi-Fi kept disconnecting. I wanted to mention that we had exactly the same problem, but my priority was solving the air conditioning issue. I asked if we could change rooms. The staff kindly showed us three other similar rooms, but unfortunately they all felt almost the same. At that point, I started to think this was not just a problem with our room, but possibly with the hotel's cooling system. I even considered moving to another hotel. However, our family had arranged to meet here to celebrate my nephew's university graduation. They were arriving the next day and had also booked this Holiday Inn. Changing hotels would have ruined our family gathering. That night, my wife and children struggled to sleep while sweating. I was so hot that I could not sleep at all. I wanted some cold water, but there was no refrigerator in the room, and I could not find an ice machine anywhere. Late at night, I went to reception again. The young staff member was very polite and tried to help. He arranged another fan for us, although it was only a small desk fan because no larger fans were available. He also suggested opening the window. As I write this review, I am still staying in the hotel and waiting for my relatives to arrive. Reception has not contacted me again today, and the technician who was supposed to check the air conditioning has never come. I sincerely appreciate the staff for trying to help, especially the polite young staff member on the night shift. He did what he could. However, I believe providing guests with such a hot and uncomfortable room does not match the hotel's promise of air-conditioned accommodation. In my opinion, the heatwave is not a sufficient excuse. Before coming to Liverpool, we stayed in Paris from 10-13 July 2026, where the city was also experiencing a heatwave with outdoor temperatures reaching 35°C. We stayed at the Novotel in the 1st arrondissement, and the room was cool and comfortable with excellent air conditioning. Just one day later, we arrived in Liverpool. Paris versus Liverpool, Novotel versus Holiday Inn —the difference was enormous. I honestly cannot tell whether this is a city issue or simply a hotel issue.

Such a wonderful hotel experience! The room was stunning—spotless, spacious, and very well presented. The bed was super comfy, making it easy to relax and get a great night’s sleep. Breakfast was lovely too, with plenty of tasty options to choose from. What really stood out was the warm and friendly welcome. The staff made me feel comfortable right away with their genuine smiles and kindness. I’d happily return and highly recommend this hotel. I will come again!
