About Carreg y Gwynt Caravan and Camping
High on a hillside above Llanarth, Carreg y Gwynt delivers proper wild camping with all the scenery and none of the fuss. The views across Cardigan Bay are spectacular, pitches are spread generously across wildflower meadows, and campfires crackle under starry skies most evenings. Facilities are simple but thoughtful—hot showers, a decent washing-up area, and a dedicated dog park where four-legged guests can stretch their legs before heading out on the coastal path.
It's a working farm, so expect the odd tractor rumble and genuine countryside calm rather than manicured lawns. Walkers love it: the clifftops and beaches are on the doorstep, and both Aberaeron and New Quay are close enough for supplies or a harbourside pint. At around £25 a night for non-electric grass pitches, it's brilliant value for those after a wilder, quieter slice of the Welsh coast without sacrificing hot water or a warm welcome.

What visitors say
We had an absolutely lovely stay here. The owners are so friendly and welcoming. The view is incredible, it's really peaceful and we loved watching the cows! A lovely walk (a bit steep) down to the beach and it's not far round the headland into New Quay. We would absolutely recommend this campsite if you want a quiet place to park up in your van and wake up with a great view.

Wow! What a beautiful place! For our first night we were lucky enough to have the field to ourselves. Upon arriving we were greeted by Carwin, who is the loveliest most welcoming man. We had a great chat which made us feel at home immediately, he explained where the amenities are. We set up our van and gazebo. We went to say hey to the cows which was amazing. We can’t thank Carwin enough for his hospitality. He explained to us where the beach was. So we talk a walk down there - not for the faint hearted! I did it with a chest infection which was not smart. On our second day there were a few more visitors but everyone was friendly and gave each other their own space. The view was absolutely incredible. On our second night we met Carwins mother who was as wonderful as Carwin. We decided to tip on our stay as we felt so welcomed 🤍 we will absolutely stay there again! Thank you again Carwin, we could chat to you all day!
