About Gilbert Hights
Perched on a family-run farm near Llandovery, this pocket-sized site offers both wild camping pitches and a couple of glamping options, all wrapped in spectacular Carmarthenshire scenery. It's a genuinely peaceful spot—just a handful of pitches tucked into rolling hills with views over lakes and mountains—ideal for walkers and mountain bikers looking to escape the crowds. Campfires and barbecues are welcome, and there's even a hot tub for post-hike soaks, though facilities remain fairly basic (portable loos, no hot water) as the site is still developing.
The owners are warm and accommodating, creating a relaxed, family-friendly vibe, but note that pets aren't permitted due to livestock in neighbouring fields. Nearby diversions include cycling routes, golf, and horse riding, while a restaurant and shops are within reach. For those craving wild beauty and proper tranquillity over polished amenities, Gilbert Hights delivers.

We just returned from a fantastic stay at Wildcamping Gilbert Heights. The campsite is situated in a beautiful location in Wales, with stunning views of the hills from the campfire site. We stayed in a tent, but luxury cabins are also available. The hostess is incredibly friendly and helpful, no matter what your needs. The shower and toilet facilities are a bit basic but well-maintained, completing the authentic camping experience in nature. The village of Llandovery is nearby, offering amenities such as a supermarket, restaurants, and pubs. Highly recommended for anyone holidaying in Wales!
