Tucked into an old farmstead in rural Carmarthenshire, Calon Y Goedwig ('heart of the woods' in Welsh) lives up to its name with woodland all around and sweeping views towards the Black Mountains and Brecon Beacons. It's a tiny, eco-friendly retreat – just a handful of luxuriously appointed glamping units – where solar-powered lighting and composting loos keep things gentle on the landscape, and minimal light pollution makes for spectacular stargazing after dark. Red kites, buzzards and woodpeckers are regular sightings overhead.
The undercover outdoor kitchen shelters a camping stove, kettle and barbecue, so you can cook whatever the Welsh weather throws at you, while picnic benches and sun loungers dot the wildflower meadow. All bedding is provided, plus cool boxes and freezer blocks. Drinkable spring water flows on site, though you'll want a torch for night-time wanderings. Llandovery is ten minutes' drive for shops and pubs, and walkers and mountain bikers have trails on the doorstep.

One of the best glamping experiences I’ve ever had! The tent and the overall space were far beyond my expectations — spacious, clean, and beautifully set up. And the scenic beauty in the early morning? Absolutely mind-blowing. Words can't do it justice. I highly recommend everyone to visit this place at least once with your family. The campsite was presented perfectly, the showers were extremely refreshing. A good mix of being in the outdoors. We booked both tents for our group the owners popped down every now and then over the 3 days and dropped us off some eggs at one point! A really friendly experience 10/10 would recommend and 100% I'd go back. Just out of the way enough to be pure peace and quiet and only 5 min drive to the local town.
