About Greenbank Lodge Llangollen

Hill Street sits above Llangollen, a small Denbighshire town wrapped by hills and river valley walks, and it's here that Greenbank Lodge Llangollen occupies a Victorian-era building with a relaxed, unfussy character. The setting suits anyone drawn to the surrounding countryside, with cycling routes, walking paths, fishing and watersports all within reach, and Denbigh Castle offering a further point of interest nearby.

Rooms at Greenbank Lodge are simple rather than showy, with en-suite bathrooms, drinks available in room, and family rooms for those travelling with children. Guests wanting more space can choose one of the suites, or the on-site cottage, which comes with its own kitchen for self-catering. Free WiFi runs throughout, reception is staffed around the clock, and there's outdoor seating for warmer days.

Pets are welcome, and free on-site parking makes the lodge an easy base for exploring the wider area. A pub, bar and restaurant are all within easy reach for evenings out, and golf and entertainment options nearby round out things to do. It's a straightforward, comfortable place to stay rather than a luxury one, with the Llangollen countryside doing much of the work.

First impressions; location fantastic, right in town centre. Remote check-in easy to follow. Parking pass, absolute bonus. Hallway smells musty, but room is large, and nicely decorated. Bathroom definitely requires some maintenance, the shower head needs changing, it is full of mold and a bit disgusting. The toilet and sink are wobbly and need fixing properly ( room 3) Biggest issue was we woke up Saturday morning with no hot water, between 8am and 9am. Had to boil a kettle and wash in the sink. We went for a long hike. Came back at 3.30pm and still no hot water. Contacted the number given, left a message, and also emailed. Quick response, they said was unusual, but didn't have another room we could use, as fully booked. Offered a credit note, this wouldn't be much use, as we probably won't return to Llangollen. We waited in the room for a further 2 hours, but still no hot water at 5.30pm. Once again had to wash using the kettle and sink. Unacceptable to have to do this twice in a day, especially after hiking when you really need a good hot shower. Had a good sleep, both nights, quiet, dark and comfortable bed. There was hot water the following morning, but unfortunately, this issue did taint what would of been otherwise a lovely weekend in this beautiful town.

Central location and adequate rooms. Can't grumble at all. Room was clean and check in/ check out instructions clear. Free parking permit was a nice touch as Llangollen can get busy.

Rating for service would have been higher but no one was present at the hotel. All dealing with the management was remote. They were professional accommodating and friendly. We visited as a group and had good weather so were able to sit together on the patio at the front of the hotel. The communal room was under refurbishment. The car parking pass was a bonus. Stayed late June 2023

The location is perfect, right near the top of the main hight street. It's a small cottage, perfect for us and our little dog. Coming back again next week. Everything you need for a self catering stay, except a tea towel for washing up (we brought our own). Dog bowls, bed and cover. Lovely spacious bedroom. Amazing shower. There was an issue with the new boiler, needing to be filled due to low pressure, but it's easy to do and they are getting this fixed. It didn't spoil our stay at all. The heating was on a timer, but you can adjust the radiators yourself if its too warm.
