About Plynlimon Shepherd's Hut
Tucked into the Cambrian Mountains just off the A44, this snug shepherd's hut for two feels delightfully remote yet remains refreshingly easy to reach – no nerve-wracking narrow lanes required. Inside you'll find a kingsize bed and electric woodburner-effect stove, while the converted stable next door houses a proper shower room and a surprisingly well-stocked kitchen (camping stove, coffee machine, fridge-freezer). Step outside and the views across this peaceful Powys hillside make the compact patio seating area feel like a front-row seat to some serious Welsh scenery.
The location puts you within striking distance of excellent hill walking in the Elan Valley, mountain biking trails threading through the Cambrians, and fishing at Clywedog Reservoir. Llanidloes sits ten minutes away for supplies, while Borth beach makes a worthwhile 40-minute excursion when you fancy swapping mountain air for sea breezes. Everything you need is provided – bed linen, towels, cooking kit – so you can focus your packing list on boots, bikes and OS maps instead.

What visitors say
A beautiful place to stay with wonderful Hosts. Lou and Mark are on hand if needed but generally you are left alone to enjoy your stay. Great base for Devils Bridge, Elan Valley, Clywedog, Aberystwyth, Borth, Rhayader and more. Facilities here are fantastic with the Hut being purely your living space. Cooking facilities, toilet, shower and indoor dining if needed are all private to your stay and are in a converted stable. Excellent idea, love going and will be there again. Lou and Mark are fantastic hosts, couldn’t ask for better.

A peaceful spot in the heart of nature and with good connections to an amazing beach at Borth. There's a friendly and helpful lady in the visitor's centre (be sure to find out when the tides are coming in). Make sure you climb up the hill behind the hut to marvel at the starry skies. Warm and welcoming hosts and I recommend the bumper breakfast hamper. The steam train trip was another highlight, the track stretches around the landscape giving a breathtaking view of the valley. Back at the hut, there's a lovely terrace to take in some rays with a cup or glass of something, or snuggle up indoors if chilly, with some yummy Welsh cakes. Of course, don't miss a trip to Elan Valley.

Recently stayed here during the october half-term to switch off from the hustle and bustle. The hosts were extremely accommodating, and absolutely lovely. They have really done well with this shepard’s hut and made it cosy as possible. You could just hibernate in here for days on end as it is perfect! We can’t wait to book another few nights here soon.
