About Ty Llewelyn Glamping and Camping
Tucked into 13 acres of Powys woodland just outside Llanidloes, Ty Llewelyn Glamping and Camping is a proper off-grid hideaway that's won glowing praise for its magical setting and warm hospitality. Guests consistently highlight the stunning natural beauty and the attentiveness of the hosts, who clearly care about making your stay comfortable. Families especially love the freedom to explore the woods, build campfires and stargaze once darkness falls – though the composting toilet setup and rustic facilities won't suit everyone seeking modern conveniences.
The site offers non-electric pitches for tents and campervans, plus tents for hire if you're travelling light. Llanidloes, a short walk away, covers essentials with a bakery, supermarket and pub, while Llyn Clywedog reservoir (15 minutes' drive) delivers spectacular views and fishing. Aberystwyth and the Wales Coast Path are under an hour if you fancy a seaside day trip, but with this much scenery and such a peaceful vibe, you might struggle to leave.

What visitors say
Beautiful campsite with a really well thought-out setup and plenty of accommodation options to suit everyone. We stayed in our Tentbox in the Hayfield area and it was perfect for what we needed. One of the biggest highlights for us was how well spaced out all the pitches were, giving everyone plenty of room and a relaxed atmosphere. The facilities were clean and well maintained throughout our stay. Maria was incredibly welcoming and accommodating, which made the experience even better. We'd love to come back again in the future and would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a peaceful camping getaway.

The site itself is really calm and peaceful , lovely area and very picturesque. However, the toilet and shower “locks” are a piece of rope pulled over a hook, and the doors do not go flush to the wall. Therefore with shared toilets and showers multiple people could see you on the toilet clear as day. In addition, a male fellow camper came into the showers and yanked on my door and because the “lock” was just rope over a hook, the door opened by about 15 cm and I was faced with a creepy man just staring at me naked with no level of urgency to shut the door. It was embarrassing and horrifying, as a 30 year old resilient woman it made me cry I was so embarrassed. I dread to think if a child or teenager had been in the shower instead. The eco vibes do not mean you can’t have adequate locks. To add insult to injury, the showers were freezing cold, we text the owner who was out and told us she couldn’t replace the gas for the showers until the next day. We woke up early for a shower and they were still freezing, we left the site at 11am and still the gas hadn’t been changed, so we didn’t have a hot shower the entire weekend.

My Fiancée and I spent a week camping on the hayfield pitches and were very impressed. Marie was very friendly, welcoming and helpful with any queries that we had and her sons work very hard to ensure there is always firewood available. The whole site was very clean, quiet, well maintained and very well priced. The facilities provided such as the communal area, toilets, shower and washing up area were well stocked and clean. We would 100% return without a doubt, thank you.

Stayed several weeks ago for one night as a last minute booking halfway to the beach. This is the first time we’ve ever been glamping/camping and I wasn’t sure how the teens would cope with being off-grid and in nature… it was brilliant! The kids absolutely loved it and so did we. As mentioned, we are not campers and Elsie-Maria gave us all the information we needed and was very patient with all of our questions. The small shop is well-stocked and there’s a lovely seating/games area. The tents are well-equipped and very cosy. We loved the fire pit in the woods and made some great memories. We also appreciated being able to book 1-night. Thank you for a lovely stay, and we hope to visit again one day.
