What visitors say

Clairy Fairy Harlin

We had such a fantastic visit to the Royal Mint yesterday! Our guide, Janine, was absolutely brilliant. She was incredibly knowledgeable, made the tour so interesting, and took the time to chat with the children and involve them throughout. She answered their questions so patiently and really helped bring the experience to life. One of the highlights was when one of the lovely ladies working in the factory spotted the girls watching through the viewing area. She came over to show them a freshly struck £1 coin with the bees and the 50p with the salmon that had literally just been pressed moments before. It was such a thoughtful gesture and made the visit even more special. The children loved striking their own coins to take home, making it a lovely keepsake from the day. The museum was excellent too. After the guided tour, you can explore it at your own pace, which was perfect. We had lunch in the café before going back for another look around the museum, and we ended up buying a few souvenirs from the gift shop. The café was clean and welcoming, the staff were friendly, and the food was lovely. While we relaxed, our daughters (aged 9 and 12) had a great time outside playing with the giant garden games and relaxing on the bean bags. A wonderful day out from start to finish. Everything was well organised, informative and enjoyable. We'd highly recommend a visit to anyone looking for an interesting and memorable family day out. Thank you to Janine and all the staff for making our visit so special! 🪙✨

A surprisingly fascinating visit — seeing how coins are designed and struck adds a whole new appreciation for everyday currency. The tour is well structured, interactive, and polished, with some cool exhibits and the chance to strike your own coin. Educational without feeling dry, and great for a unique day out. It’s a bit niche, so interest can dip if you’re not into history or production processes. Tours are timed, which can feel slightly rushed, and it’s not the longest experience for the price. Location is also a little out of the way.
