About Dumbain Farm Bed & Breakfast
Dumbain Farm is a small, long-established bed and breakfast at Balloch, at the foot of Loch Lomond, in a quiet position within the boundaries of Loch Lomond and The Trossachs National Park. It is a working farm setting rather than a hotel, run personally by the owner, and the atmosphere is correspondingly relaxed and unhurried.
Rooms are comfortable, well kept and priced sensibly for the area, with a proper Scottish breakfast included. This is the sort of place where the host will tell you which car park at Balmaha still has spaces on a Saturday, where to walk if the weather turns, and which of the loch cruises is worth the money. Booking is by online enquiry form or by telephone.
The location combines quiet with convenience. Balloch railway station, with its half-hourly service to Glasgow in around fifty minutes, is a short drive, as are Loch Lomond Shores, the aquarium and the cruise jetties. Luss is about fifteen minutes up the A82, and Drymen and Balmaha are reachable in twenty to thirty minutes on the eastern side. It suits couples and independent travellers who want a personal welcome rather than a large hotel.

Loved our quick 1 night stay before road tripping through the Highlands. Comfortable beds, homey feel. The breakfast goodies were delicious and plentiful! And waking up with the sheep outside, so fun and the kids loved it!

A wonderful stay at a real, working farm that felt genuinely welcoming from the moment we arrived. My mom and I pulled up after a long drive and Sheila was right there at the front door with a warm smile. She had an information board ready for us with local tips — a thoughtful touch that set the tone for the whole stay. Breakfast was self-serve — stocked in the cupboard and fridge — and easy to find. The selection was generous and well thought out: fresh bread, fresh fruit, cereals, yogurt, granola, and even some snacks like crisps. The dining table was set with fresh flowers on it, which was a lovely detail. The setting is the real deal — a quiet, peaceful working farm. We opened the windows briefly and let's just say the cows let you know they're nearby! No wi-fi, but cell reception was fine and honestly the offline atmosphere was part of the charm. A perfect escape near Loch Lomond. Highly recommended!

We spent 4 nights here and it was an amazing start to our road trip through Scotland and England. After arriving by plane and getting a rental car, the trip from Glasgow Airport to Dumbain Farm was a really simple start to getting used to driving on the left side of the road, without the stressful parts of driving through larger cities. Due to being on the south shore of Loch Lomond, it's in the perfect location to explore the region and close enough to the Highlands to accommodate a day trip there as well. You can also comfortably reach Glasgow with the train from Balloch every 30 minutes. Sheila has been a wonderful and helpful hostess and gave us great tips while planning our daily activities. Breakfast was Always plentiful with lots of fresh fruits, milk, jams etc. And a selection of cereal and bread. Really couldn't ask for more.

We had a wonderful night here before we left to explore Loch Lomand. Sheila was an excellent host - and the breakfast (including homemade raspberry jam) was excellent. Very quiet for a relaxing night out - and she gave us some outstanding recommendations for a hike in the area and a place to get dinner on the loch.
