Ness Islands in Inverness is one of the most peaceful and refreshing walking spots I have visited in Scotland. The islands sit in the middle of the River Ness and are connected by charming Victorian-style suspension bridges, which immediately give the place a unique and scenic character. The walking experience here is extremely relaxing. As soon as you step onto the trails, you are surrounded by tall trees, flowing water, and the gentle sound of the river. It feels like a quiet escape right in the heart of the city. The pathways are well maintained and suitable for all kinds of visitors, whether you are going for a short stroll, a slow nature walk, or just looking for a place to sit and unwind. One of the best things about Ness Islands is how peaceful it feels despite being so close to the city centre. You can hear birds, see squirrels, and enjoy the natural greenery without much disturbance. It is also a great place for photography, especially when the light reflects beautifully on the river surface. Families, couples, and solo walkers all seem to enjoy the area equally. There is a calming rhythm to the place that makes you want to slow down and stay longer than planned. Overall, Ness Islands is a perfect walking destination in Inverness for anyone looking for peace, nature, and a break from busy city life. It is simple, beautiful, and very refreshing, making it a must-visit spot.

Nice relaxing walk to the islands in the river Ness over old bridges. Crystal clear fast flowing water with wildlife and seating to sit and soak up the tranquility. Paths minder through the trees back to the main road. Beware cyclist on some paths

It’s a stunning spot and feels quite surreal looking up at the gigantic trees. I wish I lived in the area so I could visit here every day! The 302 bus will take you down from the castle and there is a stop called Ness Islands.
