I use Plumstead Centre as my local gym and it’s a really convenient distance from my house, which is a big plus. Overall it’s a good facility, but it definitely has the potential to be great. The building itself is huge, yet only a relatively small area is currently being used for gym space. As a result, it’s become increasingly crowded, and it can be quite difficult for people to do different types of exercises in the same shared area. Better use of the full facility and clearer separation of training zones would make a massive difference. The gym would also really benefit from more and better equipment. A proper free weight squat rack, dedicated lower back equipment, and additional machines would help a lot. At peak times it’s often difficult to get on the machines at all, which can be frustrating. I’d also love to see squash courts added instead of badminton. You could easily fit two or three squash courts into the space currently used for one large badminton hall. I have a group of local friends who feel the same and would use them regularly. There’s also an empty café space that feels like a missed opportunity. Being able to grab a protein shake, a decent coffee, or even something simple like eggs on toast would really elevate the experience and make it more of a community hub. A solid local centre already, but with some smarter use of space, improved equipment, and a few upgrades, it could be excellent.

This is such a nice, compact and quiet gym, I like working out here as the staff are friendly and the footfall are steady, you don’t get annoying dudes coming over saying “how many sets you got left mate”. Only thing I would say could add to make this 5 star is there are add more equipments and classes. But that’s the price I am willing to pay for a quiet gym.

Although not the closest gym to me, it definitely gives me more than other gyms around. The community feel I get from both other users and staff really makes it feel more than just a gym to me. A variety of classes and activities to choose from, and a perfect place to also take my two-year-old for some soft play time.
