About Chiswick Lodge Hotel

Turnham Green Terrace is a quiet, leafy stretch of west London, lined with independent shops and cafes and just a short walk from the bustle of Chiswick High Road. Chiswick Lodge Hotel occupies a spot on this street, with Turnham Green Tube Station close enough to make central London an easy trip.

The hotel has just 10 rooms, kept simple and functional rather than dressed up, which suits guests after a straightforward place to sleep rather than a design statement. Free Wi-Fi and breakfast are included, and there's a restaurant and bar on site for guests who'd rather not venture out. A gym, spa and sauna are also available, along with a garden, lift, and free on-site parking, which is a genuine rarity in this part of London.

Beyond the hotel doors, Chiswick's own pubs, restaurants and entertainment venues are all within easy reach, making it a workable base for exploring west London without paying central London prices. Rooms here are basic rather than luxurious, so it suits travellers who value location and convenience over polish.

I stayed at this hotel for two nights, and unfortunately, it didn’t meet expectations. As soon as we opened the room door, there was a strong damp smell, which made the space feel unpleasant from the start. The bathroom was extremely small, including the shower, sink, and toilet all in one tight space. What made it even more inconvenient was the sink being positioned directly behind the toilet, making it very difficult to use. You practically had to bend over the toilet just to wash your hands or brush your teeth. There was also no mirror in the room itself, only one inside the bathroom, which wasn’t very practical. Another issue was the noise. The hotel is located very close to a train line, and trains were passing by frequently, roughly every five minutes, which made it hard to relax. On a positive note, the receptionist was friendly and welcoming. However, the overall atmosphere and condition of the hotel didn’t feel like a proper hotel. It was more similar to a very small guesthouse rather than a place that should be described as a hotel. Overall, it was not a comfortable stay.

We had low expectations for this place and only planned to stay there to sleep, but this was far worse than anticipated. When we arrived to drop off our luggage before check-in, we were greeted by a man who appeared to be staying in a back room rather than working at a proper reception. He was wearing pajama pants and had no shoes or socks on. We decided to give it a chance and returned at 2 PM to check in, only to be met again by the same man, still barefoot and dressed the same way. The reception desk was sticky. We were then led down a hallway that smelled strange—a mix of smoke, sweat, and spices. When we entered the room, the floor was dirty, especially along the walls. The bathroom was clearly not cleaned properly: the shower had visible grime and buildup, with mold along the edges, and the sink area was also dirty and worn. The window showed signs of neglect, with dirt, damage, and mold. Behind the beds, the wallpaper was peeling off the wall, with mold stains and other brown marks. When we lifted the bedding, we found more brown stains, hair, and even a small bug. We found this so uncomfortable and disturbing that we immediately left and simply placed the key cards at the reception. Would not recommend under any circumstances.

The only good thing about this hotel is that it is in Chiswick. It is representative of an owner who doesn’t care at all about guest experience and just grabs money .The worst thing was that the hotel is right next to the train station. This wouldn’t necessarily be a problem if the windows were triple glazed . My room had a broken window that was unable to be fixed during my stay because the young man who was temporarily in charge of cleaning / managing the property had no experience with hotel management and didn’t speak English to contact the owner about it. He did try his best to be helpful generally which I was thankful for. The hotel was tired with dusty surfaces, carpet clearly not vacuumed, and dirty areas of piping around the toilet area. The drains in the shower were disgusting .The stairwell had a constant smell of cigarette smoke. The only positives were that my room was a good size and the shower was good pressure . Even though this is aimed at a guests on a budget , no one should have to put up with this disgrace for £70 a night!

The location is good and bad, it's right next to the underground, so good for someone who wants somewhwre close to an underground (like me), bad if you can't sleep with the noise until the tube stops in the night, nothing earplugs can't solve. The room was comfortable and warm and had what I needed, kettle WC and shower, just very tiring to go up so many stairs with big baggage, but apart from that would stay there again if in the area.
