About Merlyn Court Hotel
Merlyn Court Hotel occupies a redbrick Edwardian townhouse on Barkston Gardens, its period façade giving way to a small, family-run bed-and-breakfast with just 18 rooms. The style is unfussy rather than grand, with straightforward rooms that suit travellers who want a comfortable base without excess frills.
Guests have use of a restaurant and bar on site, along with breakfast, free WiFi, a garden, and luggage storage for those arriving early or leaving late. The property also has a gym and a spa with sauna, plus meeting rooms and space for weddings, which is more than many small townhouse hotels of this size offer. Free on-site parking is a further practical plus in a part of London where that's not a given.
The location puts Earls Court and South Kensington within easy reach, and the surrounding streets have plenty of restaurants, pubs and entertainment nearby for evenings out. It's a modest, personally run hotel rather than a polished chain property, and it suits guests looking for that kind of character and setting.
What guests say
I stayed at the Merlyn Court on my very first trip to Europe in 1971. Seeing that it was still in business, I stayed there again just before Christmas in 2018. I needed a ground floor room, and was able to book a very comfortable room with private bath for under $100 a night. No TV, and wireless only in the reception area, but I was only there to sleep and actually enjoyed the break from Trump news back home. The bed was large and very comfortable. Breakfast was toast, marmalade, and coffee, but with a Marks and Spencer Food Hall at the end of the street, guests are allowed to bring any additional breakfast foods they wish. The manager, Luci, was extremely helpful and certainly knows her way around the city. All in all, good value for money, and a pleasant stay of reacquaintance in a wonderful city!

The staff was very nice and welcoming. The room was nice. The bed was a little hard for my taste, but it wasn't a problem. I liked the area a lot. It was close to the tube and there was plenty of places to eat. The street outside the hotel is quiet. I was very happy with my stay

Nice little hotel near Earl's Court underground station. Excellent location, underground goes straight to/from Heathrow Airport and the District line takes you to the City fast enough. Nice lady runs the place. Everything else is a bit of "home-made". Wifi means wifi covering only the reception area. Breakfast means a cup of coffee and a couple of slices of toast. But you are allowed to bring your own yoghurt and stuff! A piece of wood holds up the window and the interior is.. interesting. A nice place if you are looking for experiences rather than luxyry.

A very underrated place to stay, especially if travelling alone and adequately equipped. At £50/night for my stay I had a bed with ensuite bathroom, and just within reach of the WiFi in the reception. Breakfast was largely ignored as with the savings from the room I was able to get breakfast from the Over Under nearby, amongst a myriad other options.
