About Travelodge London Whetstone

Travelodge London Whetstone is a modern, functional four-storey building set on the High Road, offering 90 en-suite rooms designed for practical, no-frills stays rather than character or charm. A lift serves all floors, and the hotel operates a 24-hour reception, so arrival times are flexible.

Rooms come with tea and coffee facilities and drinks available in-room, and the on-site restaurant and bar cover breakfast and evening meals, with breakfast in particular considered good value for the price. That said, maintenance is inconsistent across rooms, and service from staff, while often described as friendly, can occasionally be unhelpful. Accessible rooms are available, and pets are welcome, making it a workable option for a range of travellers. Free parking can be found nearby the hotel.

The location near Totteridge & Whetstone Tube station means central London, North Finchley and Barnet are all within easy reach, and the surrounding area offers restaurants and eateries, plus golf, fishing and entertainment options nearby. It's a base built for convenience and onward travel rather than a destination in itself.

Very disappointing stay. We arrived at 14:35, only 25 minutes before the official check-in time of 15:00. We were told that if we wanted to check in early, we had to pay an additional £15. Charging guests £15 for checking in just 25 minutes early is unreasonable and leaves a very poor first impression. The room was also disappointing. The ventilation did not work properly, making the room uncomfortable. We specifically requested three separate beds, but instead received one fixed double bed and two poor-quality extra beds that were uncomfortable to sleep on. What made the experience even worse was the attitude of the staff. We found several staff members unfriendly and unhelpful. Rather than making guests feel welcome, they seemed uninterested and dismissive. Overall, this was a disappointing experience from start to finish. The service, room quality, and customer care were all below expectations. I would not stay here again and would not recommend this hotel to others.

Had to stay for a funeral so a bit low but this hotel was a gem. A great little bar/restaurant which, after a long journey, was just what we needed. Very friendly staff. Free parking! Nice clean room with tea and coffee making facilities. Fabulous breakfast and all at a very reasonable price.

Clean rooms Affordable for London. We stayed in the family room pictured. There was a pullout underbed mattress underneath the double bed 🛌 too pictured. Very nice lovely 😍 staff, all natured like the lovely (Estelle) that was working on reception. Would I come again? Yes Were the breakfasts good? Yes This hotel has great 24hr pizza 🍕 options for those staying overnight! Thanks travellodge whetstone for a convenient and affordable space to rest our heads so (close) to the heart of London city centre.

I stayed at Travelodge while my landlord was having refurbishment work carried out at my home. Unfortunately, my experience with the Lady Assistant Manager at reception was extremely disappointing. There was a simple mistake with the booking extension dates made by my landlord. I approached reception to clarify the situation and expected some assistance and professionalism. Instead, I was immediately and rather aggressively told that I had “lost my money” and that I no longer had a room. What made the experience even more upsetting was the attitude of the Assistant Manager. She repeatedly said she could not find the booking under my name or my landlord’s name and spoke to us in a dismissive and confrontational manner throughout. She also repeatedly mispronounced my surname which I don’t mind however said it back in what felt like a sarcastic and mocking tone, which I found disrespectful and unnecessary. That could have been handled calmly from the beginning. As guests, we should not be expected to de-escalate a situation created by a member of staff. Customer service is about reassuring people and helping them find solutions, especially when they are already dealing with stressful circumstances. I appreciate that mistakes happen, but there is no excuse for rudeness, lack of empathy, or making guests feel belittled. The issue itself was minor; the way it was handled was not. I hope management takes this feedback seriously and provides additional customer service training, particularly for staff in leadership positions.
