About Tulse Hill Hotel

Norwood Rd runs through Tulse Hill in south London, and it's here, within reach of Crystal Palace Park and local transport links, that the Tulse Hill Hotel makes its home. It's a straightforward, comfortable base rather than a grand affair, with free on-site parking a welcome bonus for anyone arriving by car.

Rooms come with en-suite bathrooms, air conditioning and free WiFi, and family rooms are available for those travelling with children, who are also catered for with kids' meals in the restaurant. The ground floor is built around a proper gastropub, with a bar, in-room drinks, and a garden that guests are fond of for sitting out in. The kitchen has built a following for its Sunday roast and cauliflower cheese, backed by a well-chosen wine list, though the food does run towards the pricier end. Staff are attentive and the atmosphere is a cosy one.

Breakfast is served on-site, and reception operates around the clock, useful for late arrivals after a day exploring Crystal Palace Park or the surrounding pubs, bars and restaurants. It suits those who want a reliable pub-hotel stay in a well-connected corner of south London.

Disappointed with poor experience at Tulse Hill Hotel today. Table had empty glasses on it that we had to clear. Was a hot day and our table was in direct sun. When asked if we could move we were told no despite the restaurant being pretty much empty. We were told all tables were booked. Most of them were still empty after we finished our meal! After looking at the menu we made our choices then when came to order were told there were only roast options, nothing else on a Sunday. Staff didn’t tell us this when we arrived. Every time we went to the bar there appeared to be needless delays to get attended to despite the staff only pulling a pint for other customers. Food was good, but all round service was very poor and I won’t be in a rush to return which is a shame as we’ve not long moved to the area and had been told good things about it. Leaves a poor taste in the mouth.

Great staff, cosy place. Special shoutout to a member of staff called Jasmin, she was very helpful! There was a complication with the food and she solved it brilliantly even though it was not her fault at all. Would come back!

We arrived early at the hotel and our room was not ready so they took our case and left to go to our daughter’s birthday party. On returning at around 9.30 p.m we were taken to our room and the guy left very quickly. It was the smallest room and as I’d booked a large family room I was shocked. There was no toiletries in the bathroom i.e shower gel or shampoo so impossible to take a shower. As I paid £232 plus a deposit of £50 for bed and breakfast only to find out there was no breakfast due to the kitchen being unavailable. I’m expecting a refund.

Diners like this gastropub's delicious food, especially the Sunday roast and cauliflower cheese, and appreciate the excellent wine selection. They also highlight the friendly and attentive staff, cozy atmosphere, and beautiful garden area.

Some reviews mention the food can be overpriced.
