What diners say
Wow what an amazing place! Founded the late 1700s, this place has so much character. Such a great vibe and very friendly staff. Very cozy and comfy. Wish I lived around the corner! Mark was amazingly helpful with helping select drinks and welcoming us into the pub. Emma was amazing behind the bar. If you're in London you need to stop in!

Sheena and the other person serving were very welcoming and very helpful. I great place to come into out of the busyness of London. Food was excellent, the broccoli was cooked just right.

We booked the Cock & Lion for their three-course Christmas dinner and it absolutely delivered. I started with the shrimp and salmon, which was fresh, well balanced and generously portioned. The flavours were clean and festive without being overworked — exactly what you want to kick off a Christmas meal. The turkey dinner was the real highlight. Properly cooked turkey (moist, not an easy feat), crisp roast potatoes, rich gravy and all the traditional trimmings done right. It felt comforting, indulgent and thoughtfully put together — classic Christmas food executed with care rather than shortcuts. Dessert was a chocolate dish with popcorn, which was a great finish. Decadent without being sickly, and the popcorn added a playful texture that kept things interesting. A nice modern touch to round off a very traditional meal. Service was warm and attentive throughout, and the atmosphere felt relaxed, festive and welcoming — no rushing, no stress, just good food and good company. All in all, a really enjoyable Christmas dining experience. The Cock & Lion nailed the balance between festive indulgence and quality cooking. Would happily return, Christmas or otherwise.

On our first night in London, we chose this pub for dinner. Upon walking in, we met Mark, the owner, who took such good care of us. The food was delicious and the atmosphere was great! They even took great care of our little one! And the sticky toffee pudding was by far the best we’ve ever had. 10/10 recommend!!

Reviewers consistently praise this pub for its hearty burgers, good fish and chips, and excellent Sunday roasts, alongside the perfectly poured Guinness. The warm and friendly staff and welcoming atmosphere are also frequently mentioned, making it a great spot for watching sports.
Some reviews mention the food can be poorly prepared.
