What diners say
Red Dog BBQ is no longer at the Lord Napier Star. The pub's web site explains that a new guest kitchen is now in residence. In April 2025 two of us visited for dinner, we shared the Red Dog Carnivore Platter. Ribs, brisket, wings, smoked sausages, with peach bourbon sauce and fries. Was great. Sorry to see the Red Dog residency here end. If you want a Red Dog BBQ fix you can still find them at other locations in London.

Red Dog BBQ is great and I’ve eaten here quite a few times but am now so disappointed at the new menu. All the good burgers have gone, and all that is left is a cheeseburger and a chicken sandwich. The BBQ plates are no more apart from a special. Fries are still overpriced, the nice sides like mac and cheese have disappeared. I get that making a menu fit for a venue can be tough but to go from 15 burgers to 2 is just a crazy move. Hope I can update this review in the coming months positively.

We were really disappointed with our experience here. The restaurant was basically empty, yet we waited around 40 minutes for our food. When it finally arrived, it was cold — it had clearly been sitting out for some time before being brought to us. One of the female staff members was kind and very apologetic when we brought this up. She said we’d probably get the meal for free, which we appreciated — but we had already paid beforehand, and when we left, nothing was refunded or followed up on. To make things worse, we discovered there was an eyelash on my partner’s pork, which was pretty off-putting. After the long wait, cold food, and hygiene issue, it felt like a careless experience overall.

Unfortunately the fries and Mozzarella sticks came cold. We had 2 Cheeseburgers - there were good, but nothing special. The Service was okay, however Not the best. There was a Pop quiz and I think you can do also sometimes karaoke there, which is of course entertaining. For chilling and drinking with friends a nice place, Not for eating.
