Rondo

Me and my friends had a wonderful experience at Rondo in Holborn. The service from Bouchra and Margaux was absolutely amazing — so friendly, helpful and attentive. The food was delicious, especially the scallops, lamb, cod, and the refreshing sorbet. The quince clafoutis is a yummy desert if you still have space after the food. The best way is to order the sharing way, all the flavours blends so beautifully together. The interior is gorgeous and the atmosphere is super cosy, making the whole evening feel special. Great drinks and mocktails too. I can't wait to be back x

We had a great experience at Rondo. The food was absolutely delicious, the service was excellent, and the restaurant is beautiful with a lovely atmosphere. Everything made for a wonderful dining experience, and we would definitely come back. Highly recommended!

If you are staying at the Hoxton hotel in Holborn, chances are, you have seen the crowd of people in the lobby throughout the entire day. This, of course, is Rondo: a modern neighbourhood eatery that serves up a British menu that moves along with the seasons. Whether you are or are not a guest/resident at the hotel, you can of course dine at this restaurant or enjoy the lobby bar/mini bar. My family and I decided to try this restaurant after a whole day's adventure in the city. After being seated, we were greeted, presented with the menu, and were told of the day's special. We went with the Sea Bass and Ribeye Steak from the day's special, as well as the Venison Loin and Confit Crab Jersey Royals. The Sea Bass was a decent special. While the meat was tasty, there wasn't much flavor in the sauce or anything impactful of the dish. On the other hand, we thoroughly enjoyed the Ribeye Steak. Not only was it cooked to perfection, but it was so soft and juicy, the flavor leaked out with each cut and bite! While it is pricey, being the day's special, I will say it is worth the price. Especially compared to the Swaledale Venison Loin. There was nothing wrong with the Venison Loin, but it was not as smooth cut as the ribeye. Not only that, but the venison was more chewy and didn't have a strong or significant flavor to it. By the way, if you do enjoy Agave Jersey Royals but want a sweet touch to it, try the Confit Jersey Royals. The white crab and yuzu mayo brings a light, sweet taste to the herb-cooked capers. I wanted to try all of their desserts, but we only had the stomach space for one, so we went with the Rhubarb Sponge. The sponge cake was soft and bouncy, and the pink peppercorn syrup added a sweet taste to it. The rhubarb and vanilla flavor both came out just enough to enjoy the dessert. I am hoping to come back to try the rest of their desserts!

Decent food in a nice setting - while we loved the mushroom and the cod mains, the goat’s curd, the mushroom and the artichoke appetisers were okay, and it is more on the expensive side. That said, they offer good drinks, decent service and a nice ambiance. Overall a decent spot for a midweek meal.
