About Loscar London
Southampton Row runs straight through the heart of Bloomsbury, with Russell Square's gardens a short stroll one way and Holborn's tangle of streets the other, and Loscar London occupies a spot right in the middle of it. It's a 39-room hotel that trades on this literary, garden-square part of London while keeping transport links close at hand.
Rooms are individually styled with a distinct sense of character rather than a uniform corporate look, each with its own en-suite bathroom, free WiFi, and drinks available in-room. Downstairs there's a restaurant and bar turning out food and cocktails that guests return to, along with outdoor seating for warmer days. Breakfast, room service and laundry are all available, and the staff have built a reputation for attentive, personable service, the sort where regulars are recognised on arrival.
Practical extras include a lift, luggage storage, concierge services, and meeting rooms for anyone travelling on business, plus pets are welcome. With Holborn station nearby and Bloomsbury's pubs, restaurants and entertainment all within easy reach, it works equally well as a base for exploring the city or for a few quiet days close to the square.

What guests say
We couldn’t have asked for a more perfect venue for our wedding reception than L’Oscar London. From start to finish, the entire experience was seamless, and we felt completely taken care of every step of the way. A huge thank you to Athena, our wedding coordinator, whose attention to detail and calm, kind presence made the whole planning process feel effortless. She anticipated everything, answered every question with patience, and made us feel like we were her only priority — even though we know how much goes on behind the scenes at a venue like this. On the day itself, Sokol was outstanding. He and the team ran everything so smoothly that we felt zero stress — we got to simply be present and enjoy our own wedding, which is such a rare gift. He made us feel like the most important people in the world. The venue set-up was absolutely gorgeous, exactly as we’d envisioned and more. The food was exquisite — several of our guests told us it was the best food they’d ever had at a wedding, if not ever. The bartenders and serving staff were unfailingly polite, warm, and generous throughout the night. We are so grateful to the whole L’Oscar team for giving us a truly unforgettable day. We cannot recommend them highly enough.

What a lovely hotel. My daughter and I stopped in London, on our way to Naxos. The hotel felt like a scene out of Bridgerton. Definitely a visual indulgence. And huge kudos to Tony, the bellman who was attentive, friendly and had everything done for us. Great hotel for something with vibrant, character and different than your typical posh hotel. We loved the high tea.

A truly exceptional stay at L'oscar London. My daughter and I spent three nights at L'oscar in early April as the home base for a Shakespeare- and Tudor-history-themed trip to London, and the hotel was every bit as memorable as the city itself. From the moment we walked through the doors, the staff made us feel like we were guests of honor. Their warmth, attentiveness, and quiet professionalism elevated every interaction — from a thoughtful late check-in arrangement to small, unprompted gestures that made my eight-year-old feel genuinely welcome. The rooms are remarkable. Jacques Garcia's design is theatrical without ever feeling overdone — rich fabrics, marble and onyx bathrooms, beautiful art, and a sense that you've stepped into a stage set that was made just for you. Our Deluxe Room was deeply comfortable and a wonderful space to retreat to after long days of exploring. The location in Bloomsbury proved ideal. We were within easy reach of the West End for evening theatre, walkable to Covent Garden, and well-positioned for the museums and historic sites that anchored our itinerary. After a full day of Tudor portraits, Shakespeare's Globe, or Westminster Abbey, returning to L'oscar always felt like coming home to something special. A rare hotel where the design, the service, and the setting all live up to one another. We will absolutely be back.
