What diners say
Pubs do not come any better than this! I’ve been coming here regular for a few years and Rob is probably the best and nicest landlord I’ve ever met. Service with a smile and great food! Gaby is also fantastic and it’s great to have built relationships with them both. If you’re looking for a boozer close to Oxford Circus then look no further than H&G.

A great pub in a great location. It is impossible to resist the temptation to return, lifes too short, just give in! The welcome and ambience is as warm and delightful and excellent as the beers and drinks are delicious and exceptional well kept, pouredand served. Non alcoholic beverages were available and the ones sampled much enjoyed. I can not comment on the food as I have not sampled, however it was being ordered and eaten with much enthusiasm by fellow customers when I have been to the Horse and Groom. The Horse and Groom sets a high standard and then exceeds it. First Class and first past the post. Recommended. Lifes to short to miss, You will return. 10 out of 10

Was in London on Saturday 27th June and trying to find our way back to Tottenham Court Road when we decided due to the heat we needed to have a rest and a drink. We tried the Organic Cider and we have to say it was so refreshing and tasteful that we had another one each. It was nice to go in this pub for the first time and the interior was like being in an old fashioned pub. We assume it was the owner and a female member of staff who were working but both engaged in conversation and were pleasant and we will certainly be going in again when we in London. The female member of staff was very helpful in helping us with directions back to Tottenham Court Road.

Must see traditional English pub, just like they used to be. The beautiful bar leads through to the darts room onto a vaulted snug with fire place. Upstairs, there is a dining room lounge. The bar branding is impressive. It appears that most drinks are Samuel Smiths' own brands, including spirits. There is no real ale, but the best bitter is very smooth and balanced. Expect a generous head. We paid £13.70 for a bitter and a stout June 25, a bit more than other traditional pubs locally. No music, laptops, or swearing.

People say this pub offers delicious food, including fish and chips, and a great selection of Samuel Smith beers and other drinks. They also highlight the quiet, traditional atmosphere with a real fireplace, and the friendly, welcoming staff.
Some reviews mention the drinks can be watered down.
