Sunnydale Holiday Park

Before some negatives I first of all want to start by saying all the staff we dealt with were very hospitable and friendly. You can do a lovely walk about 15mins to a beach next to the park, our daughter loved it, she also had a great time in the park and the soft play. Nearby activities that we would recommend would be Lincoln Zoo (it’s small but it was really great) and we spent a few days on Mablethorpe beach which was also great. Upon entering our caravan we were hit with an extreme smell of wet dog, we are aware that dogs stay on the site which is fine but us not being dog owners ourselves it wasn’t great to enter our accommodation and get that smell, I would have thought there would be specific caravans for dog owners but that wasn’t the case. It may have been an oversight from me but I’ve been staying at Holiday Parks for many many years and towels and dishcloths have always been supplied, not here. On our first night we went to the entertainment (we’ve got a two year old daughter), our daughter has loved the entertainment at the few previous holiday parks we have stayed at. This one was a different story, it was far too loud and the room that the entertainment was in was far too small to cope with the amount of people in it, I dread to think what it’s like in the summer holidays. The “entertainer” didn’t really engage with any of the children either. I understand that it can probably be a bit gruelling sometimes but just felt the lack of engagement with the kids wasn’t great. There were also a large family or families of children in the arcade area asking people for money and getting loud and aggressive when everyone said no. As previously stated I’ve got a two year old daughter and this was not a nice experience for her. These children weren’t staying on the park, they kept running out the front gates to get money off their parents, the park says you need a pass to get in the entertainment but there was no security to check this and the gates to the front of the park are always open. Another thing that happened was that we lost water for a couple of hours in the caravan (the whole site did), speaking to people there, this happened a few weeks ago so it might be a regular occurrence. We did have a lovely holiday but I would probably recommend you stay at a different holiday park if you’re staying in this area.

We spent four days staying in a caravan. It was a peaceful spot close to the sea, with plenty of nature reserves nearby. The caravan was clean and had everything we needed. Our dog was happy, too. The only downside was the Wi-Fi, but we managed fine—after all, it was meant to be family time. We’ll definitely be back!

Very disappointed with our stay at Sunnydale Holiday Park. We stayed here before and last time it was actually a lot better, but unfortunately this visit completely changed our opinion and made us not want to come back again. The biggest issue was the shower facilities. The original shower block has been replaced with showers inside the pool building, and there are only 2 showers available per gender for 30+ pitches, which is ridiculous and nowhere near enough. The condition of the showers was awful. Cleanliness was practically non-existent, one shower was broken, and overall they felt dirty and neglected to the point where nobody would even want to use them. To make things worse, the showers close at 8pm and there is no proper notification about this anywhere, meaning guests only find out when they are unable to use them. The dishwashing facilities were no better. Hot water lasts around 2 minutes before turning cold, so unless you enjoy washing dishes in cold water, don’t expect much. Phone reception around the park was also close to non-existent, which made things even more frustrating during the stay. If you are unlucky enough, you can also end up with a pitch right next to the chemical waste area, water station or bins, which is far from ideal on a family holiday. It’s a shame because we previously enjoyed staying here, but the standards have clearly dropped. Basic facilities such as clean, working showers, reliable hot water and clear communication should be expected at any holiday park.

Stayed on a four night break last week in a three bedroom caravan. The living area was ok. The kitchen was dirty with crumbs and stains from the previous visitors. Both bathroom floors were dirty and one of the bathrooms had a horrible musty smell. The whole caravan needed a really good clean. The bedrooms were cramped, especially the main bedroom. Virtually impossible to get down each side of the bed. No drawers in the bedrooms and no proper storage. The kitchen bin had no lid so it was open to flies etc. and smelt. We stayed in caravan number 29. Next door was a couple with a very nasty dog. It was aggressive towards other dogs when he was walking it on a lead. On the last morning my husband was talking our small dog for a walk when I noticed next doors caravan door was open. Within seconds their dog ran towards my husband and our dog and we both shouted for them to get their dog in. My husband managed to lift our dog up and pass him to me. No apology was offered. I rang security and they took details but did not ask if everything was ok. I believe this couple are owners but they should follow the rules of keeping dogs on leads. This incident could have been so much worse. We have stayed at Parkdean before and have had negative experiences and we should have known better than to try them again. We definitely won’t be back at Sunnydale or any other Parkdean park.
