What visitors say

Abdul Rahman

Balloch Castle Country Park is a beautiful place to spend a few hours with family and friends. The park is surrounded by lush greenery, well-kept gardens, and scenic walking paths, creating a peaceful atmosphere that's perfect for a picnic or a relaxing day outdoors. The children's play area is a great addition for families, and one of the biggest attractions is the easy access to the shores of Loch Lomond, where you can enjoy stunning views and a lovely waterside walk. Unfortunately, the main disappointment is Balloch Castle itself. While it remains an impressive landmark from the outside, it is currently closed and boarded up, meaning visitors cannot explore or enjoy what should be the centrepiece of the park. It feels like a missed opportunity for such a historic building. Another significant drawback is the lack of public toilet facilities, which can be inconvenient, especially for families with young children or visitors planning to spend several hours in the park. Despite these shortcomings, the park's natural beauty, open spaces, family-friendly facilities, and access to Loch Lomond make it well worth a visit. If the castle were restored and proper public toilets were provided, this would easily be a five-star destination. 🌳🏰🌊

Balloch Castle Country Park is a lovely place to visit, set right on the banks of Loch Lomond. The castle itself is beautiful, although it is currently under repair so you can’t go inside — still very nice to see from the outside and full of character. The park is perfect for families, with a great children’s play area and lots of open space to relax. There are well-maintained walking paths throughout the park, offering peaceful walks and stunning views over the loch. It’s a great spot for a stroll, a picnic, or just enjoying nature. Overall, a really nice place to spend a few hours, especially if you enjoy scenic walks and being by the water. Highly recommended despite the castle being closed. 🌿🏰

Such a lovely serene park with a good walk trail surrounded by beautiful nature, water, birds, and good cruise to get on if you are up for it. Overall a good day to spend outdoors especially when the sun is out. The walk is easy and you can grab ice cream to cool off or grab a bite.
