Large shingle beach on a very interesting part of the Hampshire coastline, combining salt marsh environment, history and fine views of the Isle of Wight. The beach itself is good for walks, birdwatching and sightseeing. The walk out on the shingle spit is a little over a mile, mostly flat but a moderate effort due to the pebbles. Those who make it to the end will be rewarded with some great landmarks. Hurst Point Lighthouse is an excellent photo subject, and the atmospheric buildings of Hurst Castle offer a look at successive eras of military history. There are also uninterrupted views of The Needles and more of the Isle of Wight coastline. There's parking on the coastal road very close to the beach, by the little bridge; charges apply through the RingGo app. No other facilities, but that will appeal to those who prefer more natural surroundings and like to escape the crowds. This coastline provides an interesting complement to any visit to the New Forest, with plenty of unspoilt scenery and few tourist trappings.

We visited Milford on Sea on a windy day — definitely a good idea to wear hoodies! Parking was easy; you can park for free on the roadside or use the pay-and-display areas if you prefer. We walked along the seaside path toward the castle and lighthouse — such a lovely route with great views and lots of boats around. Really enjoyed our time there, beautiful and peaceful spot!

Brilliant beach with lots of free parking along the road. Great views of the IOW and the needles. A bit of an incline but once up there is quite a flat walk along the beach and all the way up to the castle. I would not recommend the yellow ice cream van that was parked nearby the mr whippy wasn’t proper cream and left a strange after taste. Overall great beach for walks
