Burrs Country Park Club Campsite

Burrs, Woodhill Rd, Bury BL8 1DA, UK

Riverside club site in a Bury country park, about nine miles north of Manchester

About Burrs Country Park Club Campsite

Burrs Country Park spreads across the site of two nineteenth-century cotton mills on the banks of the River Irwell, their old weirs and mill races still visible among the woodland and riverside paths. The Caravan and Motorhome Club runs around 85 pitches in a sheltered corner of the park, mostly hardstanding and some fully serviced, taking caravans, motorhomes and campervans year-round. Facilities stick to the reliable club formula - heated showers, laundry, motorhome services, electric hook-ups - though nothing particularly stands out. The site can feel a little dated in places, but the location more than compensates.

The East Lancashire Railway runs right alongside, bringing restored steam trains past the pitches on operating days, and Bury Bolton Street station sits a short walk away. The Irwell Sculpture Trail threads through the park, Burrs Activity Centre offers climbing and watersports, and Ramsbottom and Holcombe Hill lie a few miles north. For Manchester itself, walk or bus into Bury and catch the Metrolink tram, which drops you at Victoria in around twenty-five minutes.

Great location for Bury (25 minute walk) or Manchester (walk to Bury plus 30 minutes on a regular tram). Lots of walking nearby but it was rainy when we visited the city instead. Very clean showers and toilets, nice big gravel pitches, very well kept site. Everyone super friendly and helpful. We’d love to come back very soon!

Lovely site , clean and well run. Excellent pub for drinks and good nearby,(The Brown Cow- care the food portions are huge and very reasonably priced with great service too). The only drawback to this site and it's not their fault is the appalling cobbled lane you have to use to get to it. Shakes the living daylights out of car and caravan. Will certainly test tow hitch and cupboard door security!

Lovely site with access to the Country park. Pub and Ice cream parlour in walking distance. Friendly staff who look after the site to a high standard. Clean facilities and plenty of hot water. Bit of a bumby road to access the site but okay if taken slowly. Lovely flat pitches with plenty of space. Major retail outlets, steam railway and motor museum nearby. Great location for walks and sightseeing in the area Easy access to Manchester City centre when using public transport.

Another fabulous site with friendly helpful staff. The pitches are able size and facilities are spotless. There's a camp shop with all the essentials. The site and so.e.pitches are adjacent to the east lanes railway, where steam trains can be seen running by. There is a large park for walking, cycling and dog walks. The town is a short drive away, and Bury .market is a must for the famous Bury black pudding. We had the best Jersey Milk coffee at the farm ice cream parlour which is a 10 minute walk away.
