About The Paddock Ramsbottom
The Paddock sits on a working farm above Ramsbottom, where the West Pennine Moors rise from the Irwell valley. Non-electric grass pitches spread across a sloping field with long views towards Holcombe Hill and Peel Tower, kept deliberately simple for tent campers who want open space and fresh air. Alongside are yurts with wood-burners and proper beds, camping pods, safari tents and domes—several with private kitchen areas containing a gas stove and cool box.
Facilities cover the essentials: power showers with plenty of hot water, clean toilets and a solar-heated washing-up point. An honesty shed sells snacks, drinks, marshmallows and firewood. Campfires and barbecues are actively encouraged, which is unusual enough in England to be worth noting, and dogs are welcome throughout.
Ramsbottom is five minutes downhill—a former mill town now known for good eating and drinking, the East Lancashire Railway's steam services, a spring chocolate festival and a weekly market. Walkers can climb directly to Peel Tower or follow the Irwell Sculpture Trail south. Manchester is half an hour by car, or take the tram from Bury for a day in the city without moving the tent.
