About Abel Heywood Boutique Hotel

Turner Street sits in the heart of Manchester's Northern Quarter, surrounded by bars, restaurants and entertainment, and it's here that Abel Heywood Boutique Hotel makes its home. This is a compact hotel with just 14 rooms, each finished with modern decor and kept comfortable and clean, giving it the feel of a townhouse rather than a chain hotel.

Guests eat well here, with a restaurant and bar on site serving a well-regarded breakfast, though some have found the portions on the smaller side. Staff are consistently friendly and helpful, and the atmosphere is sociable and welcoming rather than formal. Beyond the restaurant, the hotel offers a garden, free WiFi, air conditioning, luggage storage and free on-site parking, along with meeting rooms and concierge services for those combining business with a stay. It's also set up as a wedding venue and welcomes pets.

With the Northern Quarter's pubs, restaurants and entertainment on the doorstep, and Manchester Victoria within easy reach, it suits anyone wanting to be close to the city's nightlife without sacrificing a quiet, well-kept room to return to.

Called in today with work friends to have a late lunch, staff were welcoming and friendly. Plenty of choice for both food and drink (in fact we stayed all evening). They have a small plates/starter offer on with lots of choice, the chicken strips and cheeseburger spring rolls were top notch. Great vibes, would recommend and go again.

We stayed here for one night as we were going to the Etihad for a gig. The guy who checked us in was really nice and polite and told us everything we needed to know about the rooms the pub and how to get about easy. It was located closely to other pubs and bars and piccadilly station was 10-15 mins walk away. Lovely pub, we didn't eat there but we're told the food was really good, the rooms were slightly on the smaller side but that didn't bother us, they were really clean and tidy, the bedding was lovely, comfy bed and pillows, the windows had a black out blind so we slept very well. The bathroom was modern and clean and had hand soap, and hair and body wash, the towels were of a really good quality. There were Tea, coffee and hot chocolate and biscuits. We would definitely stay here again if going to the northern quarter.

I had the most wonderful stay at the Abel Heywood Hotel in Manchester and I honestly can’t praise it enough. From the moment I arrived, the staff were incredible – especially Harry, who went above and beyond and truly made me feel looked after throughout my stay. I booked in over Christmas and it couldn’t have been more perfect. The rooms are stunning, beautifully modern, and absolutely spotless. Christmas dinner was delicious, and I was even given a complimentary breakfast on Christmas Day which was such a lovely and thoughtful touch. The hotel is also brilliant for disabled guests, with excellent accessibility and staff who genuinely care and are happy to help. The location is fantastic too – right by the Northern Quarter and so close to all the shops, making it ideal for exploring the city. For the level of service, comfort, and experience, it’s amazing value for money. This place has become my constant go-to hotel in Manchester. Highly recommended!

I wish I’d read the restaurant reviews rather than relying on the hotel’s overall rating, as our experience with the food was extremely disappointing. All of the food was overcooked and, quite frankly, not enjoyable. The burgers were surprisingly small, the chicken was rock-hard, and the chips were also overcooked. The staff were pleasant enough, and I appreciate they were also busy running the bar. However, nobody checked whether we were happy with the food at any point, which was disappointing given the poor quality of the meal. What is particularly disappointing is that previous guests have already raised very similar concerns about the burgers and the general quality of the food. Despite this, nothing appears to have been done to address the problem. Management should take these repeated complaints seriously rather than continuing to ignore them.
