Buccleuch Arms Hotel

We stayed at the Buccleuch Arms while working in the area and had a genuinely excellent experience. The staff were warm, welcoming and went well beyond expectations to look after us throughout our stay. The locals in the bar were equally friendly and full of character, which gave the place a lovely atmosphere. The food was very good too — and it was particularly refreshing to see game featured on the menu. All in all, a brilliant stay and somewhere we would happily return to.

Travelled by bus on a weekday evening to eat here as the reviews looked great. Unfortunately we're turned away from the restaurant, despite there being free tables because they only had one chef. Blackboard Sign outside still advertising the restaurant. Make sure you book before coming. However the barman did recommend an excellent Italian place down the road which was appreciated

Best stay of my life! Was welcomed so lovingly by receptionist Sasha who was so helpful and understanding. My husband and I stayed for 2 nights and had a voucher to utilise, and so we had dinner in the bar which first impressions was extremely rustic and chic. We were sat down my a wonderful girl called Willa, who went above and beyond in her service and made the night unforgettable. We had a three course meal which was delightful and was intelligently informed of the wine list. I have to say I do think the blinds need some repair but other than that we just loved everything. The food was spot on, the service was impeccable.

We stayed here three nights during the week arriving at 4pm where they were in the middle of a wake. Once we got their attention we were quickly checked it and up to the room. A nice size, warm, clean, pleasant place with a double bed, bath and shower, small TV, tea and coffee with biscuits. We changed and went downstairs for dinner in the bar which we had booked. Renowned for serving game, pheasant was our choice for starters, smoked with a salad and breaded gougons. We had a lamb curry, nice and spicy, I had chicken and chorizo pie. We had dessert too. Next morning we had breakfast in the blue coo, coffee, toast, cereal, then eggs Benedict and kipper and poached egg. Hearty eating. The car was parked in their large carpark. Very handy. Just off the main road. We were comfortable overnight, just a bit warm. The bath filled rapidly so we favoured this over showers. Overall we enjoyed our stay in a very pleasant place.
