About Baystone Bank Farm Campsite

Tucked into quiet farmland near Whicham, Baystone Bank Farm unfolds across hedged and streamside pitches – some with fire pits for lingering evenings under Cumbrian skies. The campsite balances a back-to-basics vibe with thoughtful touches: an on-site café serving proper breakfasts, clean shower blocks, and staff who actually know the fells and coastline inside out. Choose from bramble-screened plots, waterside tent spots or electric hardstanding for vans, all set against mountain backdrops that genuinely deliver.

While the terrain can be a little uneven underfoot after rain, the peaceful setting and walker-friendly location more than compensate. With kayaking, climbing and cycle routes on the doorstep – plus DOE groups and dog walkers equally welcome – it's the kind of place that suits anyone happy to trade polish for character and a genuinely warm Lake District welcome.

Stayed here for 4 nights in our camper van with two dogs. We will definitely be back. The location is incredible, stunning views and well away from the road. Facilities are good, the toilets are separate solid door ones with sinks inside and the showers are the same (not cubicle set up like a lot of sites). Water was hot and the showers are powerful. I wouldn't say they were super clean, but they weren't grim either. Just wear sliders in the shower 🙈 It's a reasonably basic campsite on a working farm so as long as you bare that in mind it's great. We had breakfast from the cafe one of the mornings. Very reasonably priced and it was lovely. Pitches all have fire pits and logs/kindling are cheaper than other sites I've stayed on. We stayed Monday- Friday term time so it was really quiet and peaceful. Not sure what it will be like when full but the pitches are spaced well. Happy the warden is amazing! Super friendly and chatty. He's very helpful and really cares about making sure people enjoy their stay. He's really knowledgeable, and even let us know when the Space Station would be passing over which was a treat to see living in a city with loads of light pollution. All the staff we met both for the site and farm as a whole were lovely.

Beautiful location! Would highly recommend staying here. We stayed in a cabin with a hot tub, everything was well presented and clean. It was a perfect peaceful weekend, with plenty of walks in the area. The sky at night was so clear we could see lots of stars. Quiet campsite. We will definitely be back! Also highly recommend the bacon sandwich’s from the shop Happy was our campsite warden and was super friendly. He checked everything was okay with us, and provided us with some good recommendations for food and walks.

We’ve just come back from a two-night stay at Baystone Bank Farm and honestly, we couldn’t have asked for a better experience. The facilities were excellent – the shower and toilet block was spotless at all times, which really makes a difference when camping. The campsite itself is beautifully maintained and even has its own fire pit area, which added a lovely touch to the evenings. The whole site has such a calm and peaceful atmosphere, perfect for switching off and relaxing. There’s also a café on-site, which was a great bonus. The views are absolutely stunning, and being surrounded by friendly farm animals like horses and sheep made it feel even more special. What really stood out though was the staff. Everyone was so welcoming and helpful. The owner is absolutely lovely, and the camp warden was always around if needed – super friendly, attentive, and genuinely cared that everyone was enjoying their stay. He even let us have a look inside the glamping pods, which was a nice extra. Overall, a 10/10 stay for us – we’ll definitely be coming back!🩷🏕️

Stayed in cabin with hot tub. Absolutely superb. A warm welcome from the wardens, easy check in and a clean cabin all made for a great stay. Site was clean and tidy. Firepits on all pitches made for a very good atmosphere at night. Site was quiet after 11pm which was pleasing as travelling with a child. Didn’t use the toilet block as we were self sufficient in the cabin but it looked clean. Hot tub was great, interesting in the rain!!!! Had breakfast at the cafe as well which was good quality. All in all would highly recommend.
