About Burrendale Hotel, Country Club and Spa
The Burrendale sits just outside Newcastle town centre on the Castlewellan road, close enough to walk to the seafront in around ten minutes but set back enough to feel quieter than hotels directly on the promenade. It operates as a hotel, country club and spa in one, with a leisure centre including a pool, sauna, steam room and gym available to guests alongside the accommodation.
The hotel's restaurant and bar draw on local County Down produce, and its position beneath the mountains makes it a popular base for walking groups heading into Tollymore Forest Park or up onto the Mourne Wall, as well as for golfers using Royal County Down and the town's second course.
Rooms are split between the main hotel and a country club wing, with family rooms and suites available alongside standard doubles, and the hotel regularly hosts weddings and conferences in its function spaces.

What guests say
Nice hotel and lovely staff. Very warm in our room but an upright fan did help. Food in the restaurant not great on our first night but they redeemed themselves on the second night with a lovely Turkey & ham dinner / fish & chips.

Perfect stay! We had a brilliant night, we booked the spring deal package which is brilliant value for money! Dinner, b&b plus access to spa and gym. We first started off in room 232 which was a beautiful but unfortunately too warm for us to stay in. We mentioned to reception while on way for dinner which they very quickly offered us a different room which was absolutely perfect and a lot cooler. The staff where amazing, nothing was too much hassle, they went over and above. Very professional and friendly. The dinner we had was the nicest and tender blade of beef I have ever had! Breakfast was also great with a great selection of pastries, cereal, porridge and cooked buffet. We absolutely loved our stay and would recommend anyone to stay here. Thank you again for a lovely stay.

Thanks to all the staff at the Burrendale for making our stay a 5 star experience. I cannot remember all the names, but Fiona O'Hare for her approachability and kindness, Catherine and Lindsay at reception for their patience, kindness and friendliness. The food was 5 star as was the service. We were a group of 14 and everyone recieved 5 star treatment. We are a Ukulele group and some staff joined in with the songs. We were made to feel so welcome. Well done team Burrendale we will definitely return. Highly recommend. Catherine Ferrin from the 'Mother Pluckers' Ukulele group.🥰😄🎵🎼🪕

Here's the message: If you are thinking about choosing this place, I can highly recommend the Burrendale Hotel with a clear conscience. The beautiful location right at the foot of the Mourne Mountains is incredibly impressive, and the views are breathtaking. We organized a family celebration there, and the whole place has a super atmosphere. It’s truly worth it, I highly recommend it to everyone!
