Bute Cottage
Na h-Eileanan Siar
Bute Cottage is a detached, single-storey property in Daliburgh on South Uist in the Outer Hebrides, overlooking its own lochan. Everything you need for self-catering is here: a kitchen with electric cooker, microwave, dishwasher, washing machine and tumble dryer; oil central heating; electricity and wifi included. Bed linen and towels are provided. There is private parking for two cars on site, and one well-behaved pet can stay free.
The layout is all on the ground floor, reached by two steps to the entrance. Three bedrooms sleep six: two kingsize beds (one with an ensuite shower), and a third room with two single beds. The second bathroom has a bath and toilet. The living room has a 32-inch TV and DVD player, with an electric woodburner for warmth. Patio doors from the dining room open onto a small garden with seating and furniture. No smoking inside.
South Uist suits walkers, birdwatchers, photographers and anyone after wild landscape. Eagles and corncrakes are common, and the RSPB Balranald nature reserve is nearby. The machair comes alive with wildflowers in summer; white sandy beaches line the west coast. Eriskay is a short drive away, with ferry connections to Barra. Askernish Golf Course, the oldest in the Western Isles, and Kildonan Museum are accessible for day trips. The Uist Outdoor Centre in Lochmaddy runs sea kayaking, diving and boat trips, including to St Kilda.
