You arrive at Kilbride Beach Cottage to find a renovated 1909 stone building set back from the shore on the Isle of South Uist. The ground floor opens into a generous living space with a woodburner, smart TV and the kitchen beyond—all the equipment you need to cook properly, including a dishwasher and separate tumble dryer. French doors lead to an enclosed garden with seating and a barbecue. A sun room has books and board games; a separate dining room connects the main spaces.

Upstairs and down, the three bedrooms are each paired with their own bathroom. Bedroom 1 on the ground floor has a double bed and a wet room with both shower and slipper bath. Upstairs, bedroom 2 offers another double and an ensuite, while bedroom 3 has zip-and-link single beds (which can be pushed together) and a third ensuite. The cottage sleeps four. Wi-Fi and electricity are included; logs for the woodburner are provided, and bed linen and towels come as standard. Private parking fits two cars, and a bike store is at hand.

The southern isles suit walkers, birdwatchers and anyone drawn to quiet beaches and lochside fishing. The machair flowers from spring onwards, and golden eagles, corncrakes, seals and otters are genuinely common to the area. No smoking inside the cottage.

This is one of the most beautiful places we've ever seen. We rented this lovingly furnished cottage for a week and would have loved to stay. The amenities are excellent; nothing was missing; we were even greeted with fresh flowers, scones, and fresh milk, along with a handwritten greeting from the friendly landlady. We thank you for everything and will definitely come back. Lisa and Thomas

The owner Christine is 100% focused on ensuring your stay at Kilbride Cottage is truly special. The attention to detail you will find in the cottage is not often found at an affordable price. The stunning views of the sea, the sound of sheep gently baaing and the occasional sea eagle flying over the top, all help you quickly relax and enjoy your break. The Prince's Beach on Eriskay is a stone's through away and definitely worth several visits. A cottage worthy of a return visit.

We stayed a week in Kilbride Cottage and couldn't have asked for a more well appointed and generally lovely cottage to choose. Christine the owner, really cares that you have a good holiday - and we certainly did. From the minute we arrived in the cottage we just felt chilled. She has thought of everything to make your holiday special. The area is beautiful - so many places to explore. We golfed, cycled and walked our way around it. We are already looking forward to a return visit to this wonderful cottage next year.

This cottage is the benchmark by which all other cottages should be judged. You think of it and it is there, you dont think of it and it's there. Christine who looks after the place is fantastic. She has brought us cakes, fresh crab and lobsters and eggs. She does everything to make the stay perfect and it is. All you need for the first night like cheese, bread milk and wine is provided. Very comfortable beds, lovely sitting room, all the amenities that you need. We stayed there with a 9 and 12 year old boys and they love it too. So many things to do around the area and the beaches are fantastic. We are heading back for our third time!
