Kilbride Cottage suits couples after a quiet retreat on the Outer Hebrides. This cottage dates from 1909 and has been restored as a two-person property on a working croft, with a single bedroom containing a double bed and a sofa bed in the dining room for flexible sleeping arrangements. Everything is on the ground floor: a living room with TV and DVD player, a kitchen with electric oven, hob and microwave, and a shower room. The essentials—electricity, heating, bed linen, towels and WiFi—are covered, along with a welcome pack.

The cottage overlooks the coast with access to dramatic beaches and rocky coves. South Uist connects to neighbouring islands via causeway, making it straightforward to explore Eriskay and catch ferries to Barra, or drive to Lochmaddy's Outdoor Centre for sea kayaking and diving. The islands draw wildlife: seals, otters, golden eagles and corncrakes are regularly spotted, and whales and basking sharks visit in summer. The machair flowers in spectacular colour from April through September, while winter brings dark skies and stormy light. Historic sites include the Bonnie Prince Charlie Trail and Kildonan Museum. Parking for two cars is on site; smoking is not permitted.

This is one of the most beautiful places we've ever seen. We rented this lovingly furnished cottage for a week and would have loved to stay. The amenities are excellent; nothing was missing; we were even greeted with fresh flowers, scones, and fresh milk, along with a handwritten greeting from the friendly landlady. We thank you for everything and will definitely come back. Lisa and Thomas

The owner Christine is 100% focused on ensuring your stay at Kilbride Cottage is truly special. The attention to detail you will find in the cottage is not often found at an affordable price. The stunning views of the sea, the sound of sheep gently baaing and the occasional sea eagle flying over the top, all help you quickly relax and enjoy your break. The Prince's Beach on Eriskay is a stone's through away and definitely worth several visits. A cottage worthy of a return visit.

We stayed a week in Kilbride Cottage and couldn't have asked for a more well appointed and generally lovely cottage to choose. Christine the owner, really cares that you have a good holiday - and we certainly did. From the minute we arrived in the cottage we just felt chilled. She has thought of everything to make your holiday special. The area is beautiful - so many places to explore. We golfed, cycled and walked our way around it. We are already looking forward to a return visit to this wonderful cottage next year.

This cottage is the benchmark by which all other cottages should be judged. You think of it and it is there, you dont think of it and it's there. Christine who looks after the place is fantastic. She has brought us cakes, fresh crab and lobsters and eggs. She does everything to make the stay perfect and it is. All you need for the first night like cheese, bread milk and wine is provided. Very comfortable beds, lovely sitting room, all the amenities that you need. We stayed there with a 9 and 12 year old boys and they love it too. So many things to do around the area and the beaches are fantastic. We are heading back for our third time!
