We really enjoyed our time viewing Caerphilly Castle, which is the largest castle in Wales. You should keep at least 1.5 hours to see the main castle; and a lot more time if you also want to walk around the castle. There’s a massive moat around the castle giving lots of viewing points and photo spots. They have created a nice flow as a story which you can follow with signs across the castle, to ensure you see all parts and don’t skip any. It’s got audio and video updates about the castle as you progress. Lot’s of narrow circular stairs, so keep that in mind. There are toilets inside the castle. The visitor center / gift shop is a small set-up, but they do carry a decent variety of souvenir options. The staff there was very warm and welcoming. Entry ticket priced at £13.50 per adult.

I have lived in cardiff near Carephilly almost my whole life and I had still never been to this castle until today. We had free entry because we recently became cadw members. Upon entering i noticed some bits of the castle were being refurbished including bits of the wall. I liked how there were railings on some of the old stairs in the castle because they were easier to get up!!! When we went in the first room there was this interactive video playing that said about the castle which was helpful. The old dining room in the castle is mainly modern because it's being refurbished but it still showcased how it was a few hundred years ago. This is probably the biggest castle in wales and it took us about 1 and a half hours to see it all. However if I was paying for this I would say it would be a bit overpriced but im glad it was free. I would recommend this castle to anyone who's in Carephilly or any tourists in wales!!!! 😁

Beautiful castle. My two little ones loved seeing the two dragons and kept wanting to revisit the dragons. They also tell the story of the white and red dragon which was great for the littles too. We loved exploring the castle. There is a lot of stairs but lots of activities for the little ones on the different levels. Unfortunately if you bring your dog you can't explore much of the castle on the upper floors as they are not allowed up the stairs. (I'm guessing due to health and safety and the steepness of the steps) Me and my husband took it in turns to explore the upper levels of the castle while the other stayed with our dog.

Nice castle with stunning views. I would expect to see more artifacts in the castle. The catapults were the most impressive exhibits. There is a paid car park opposite the castle. Entey is free for National Trust members only, paid for anyone else. Gift shop available as well. Staff very polite and friendly.
