Fordingbridge sits at the edge of the New Forest, within reach of chalk-stream fishing, walking trails, and the Hampshire countryside. The Compasses Inn Cottages – Blue Charm occupies a converted space attached to the historic pub, giving you the unusual advantage of being steps from food, drink and company without needing to leave home. The pub itself serves Nepalese cuisine alongside traditional breakfasts and real ales, with staff known for attentiveness and a welcoming approach.
The cottage sleeps four in one double bedroom upstairs and a sofa bed in the living room below, with a single bathroom. The kitchen is equipped for self-catering – electric cooker, dishwasher, microwave and fridge – while the living area has a TV, DVD player and CD player. Heating, electricity, bed linen and towels are all included. Outside, you have private parking for two cars and access to a shared lawned garden with furniture; the village green, enclosed and good for dogs, lies directly adjacent. One pet stays free.
The location suits anyone wanting to explore the New Forest proper (three miles away) or the broader area – Salisbury, Kingston Lacy, Cranborne Chase and the Dorset coast are all readily accessible. Damerham village itself centres on its Norman church and has a strong history tied to field sports and outdoor pursuits. Note that the cottage has narrow stairs to the upper floor. No smoking inside.

Really lovely staff (Georgie) at check in. Room was clean, bed was comfy, shower hot and powerful and the towels soft fluffy and large. Room decoration/furnishing inline with room price. Enjoyed sitting in the garden with a beer in the late afternoon sun. Had dinner there which was excellent. Great cooked breakfast (cooked to order so hot!) and decent coffee. Plenty of parking space. All good.

Really tasty food and a lovely pub which was a surprise as I didn't expect to eat here as was just staying for the night. Room and bed were comfortable but nothing special, unlike the food

Visited for the music as DamJam were playing. Had a great evening in the beer garden at this fabulous local pub. Seems like it is very well run by a family who clearly care. Will definitely come back to try the food and see more live music

HIDDEN GEM!!! The most delicious Nepalese food! We had the chicken wings with the most incredible freshly made sauce and the Himali curries. Honestly so fresh and flavourful. We drove half hour for this and already planning to return again this week. Lovely garden outside to sit in and friendly staff. We came on a Sunday with reduced Nepalese menu and can’t wait to come back and try the full menu! This is a must visit.
