Recently opened and laying bare the wartime secrets of taped conversations between interned German Generals and high ranking officers. The secret insights of the German Reich helped reduce the war by many months. The German officers were seduced by the splendid surrounds and country mansion hospitality to reveal what the German high command were really thinking. The Jewish "German to English" interpreters brought in specially to transcribe their conversations were undoubtedly the unsung heroes in this carefully planned program. A bit of a walk from Cockfosters station, but worth the low entry fee. Loved it!

Trent Park in Barnet is a lovely big stretch of parkland that feels surprisingly rural for being so close to London. The mix of ancient woodland, open fields, and lakes makes it great for long walks, and there’s usually plenty of space to spread out. It’s especially popular with dog walkers and families, and the historic Trent Park House adds a nice backdrop to the scenery. The paths can get quite muddy after rain, and it does get busy on sunny weekends, but overall it’s a well-kept and peaceful spot. Whether you’re after a gentle stroll, some birdwatching, or just a change of scenery, Trent Park is one of the better green spaces in north London.

Trent Park is a beautiful, spacious park with a proper countryside feel right on the edge of London 🌳. There are woodland trails, open fields, lakes, and plenty of room for long walks or a peaceful wander. It’s especially nice if you enjoy nature, dog walks, or just getting away from busy streets for a while 🐕🍃. The mix of history and greenery gives it a lovely atmosphere. A great spot for fresh air, exploring, and switching off.

Just visited the totally fascinating Trent Park Museum. A bit expensive, but really worth a visit the staff and volunteers were charming and helpful. Very creative exhibition showing the history of the house and how it was used as spy centre during the Second World War listening to the German prisoners of war.
