The Weighbridge

Newark and Sherwood

View on Google Maps

Clifton on Trent sits on the border between Nottinghamshire and Lincolnshire, a quiet spot that draws walkers and cyclists. The Weighbridge occupies the grounds of the old train station—something that appeals strongly to those with an interest in railway heritage. The cottage is a single-storey property sleeping two, with a double bedroom, shower room, and combined living and kitchen space. A wood burner takes the chill off cooler evenings, and the kitchen has an electric hob, oven and grill, microwave and slow cooker for preparing meals. Wi-Fi, heating, bed linen and towels are all included; initial fuel for the burner is provided too.

The enclosed patio garden has furniture and looks out over grazing fields. One car can park on site, and there is a bike store if you arrive with cycles. One well-behaved dog stays free. The location opens onto the Skellingthorpe Walk and National Route 647, making it straightforward to reach Lincoln by bike or foot—roughly 12 miles away—to visit the castle, cathedral and the shops and restaurants around Steep Hill. Closer by, the area has museums and galleries worth an afternoon. Smoking is not permitted in the property. No children.
