About 91 Aparthotel Jesmond Road
Jesmond, on the edge of Newcastle upon Tyne, is a leafy residential pocket known for its cafes and easy reach of the city centre, and it's here that 91 Aparthotel Jesmond Road makes its home. The 16-room property is a self-catering option with a hotel's worth of extras, giving guests a base that suits both a quick city break and a longer stay.
Rooms come with kitchenettes, so guests can put together their own meals, while air conditioning and lift access add a bit of everyday convenience. Beyond the rooms, there's a restaurant and bar on site, along with breakfast service for those who'd rather not cook every morning. A small gym and spa with sauna give guests a way to unwind, and practical touches such as porter and concierge services, luggage storage and laundry are all on hand.
Free on-site parking is a genuine plus in a city where that's not always easy to come by, and free Wi-Fi runs throughout. Beamish Open Air Museum is within reach for a day out, while Jesmond itself has pubs, restaurants and entertainment nearby for evenings without needing to travel far.

A hotel room should be three things: quiet, dark, comfortable. This was only one. My review has an extra star only because of the staff - it was a 2 star experience, saved by them. We checked into apartment 91-2 and all seemed well. Small but comfy, good facilities, lovely bathroom. But when we went to bed that night we realised that bolted to the other side of the wall that the bed was against were two 7 foot air conditioning units. It was like trying to sleep in a revving lorry. Additionally, the bedside lights each have a super bright blue LED presumably to show you they exist in the dark. But they lit the whole bed area in ghostly grey light and I had to trap a cloth into each to try and block the light. I called reception who came with ear plugs for the noise but they had no other rooms available (it was also nearly midnight). Ear plugs partly worked, but the bass rumble of the units still got through. They did, however, move us into the hotel the following night. Even that wasn't perfect though - a nice room with a glass door to the bathroom, which contained a window. I didn't realise until sunrise. Please, please, just make the rooms dark! The service from the Holiday Inn next door did save the trip and I'm grateful to the lovely staff there who couldn't have been better. However do not book apartment 91-2 - it is, quite simply, not at all appropriate to be sold as a room.

A real disappointment. Seriously in need of attention. We stayed in the top floor apartment. We knew that it was on a busy road but the windows might as well not be there. Add in what we assumed in the end to be a malfunctioning heating system which periodically sounds as though it might come through the ceiling and anyone who sleeps short of comatose is going to struggle. The bed and pillows are incredibly hard. Some of the pillows smelt like someone else's perfume and had clearly not been changed. As part of a chain hotel you would've thought they could at least manage a clean and comfortable bed but clearly not. The water in the bathroom was either hot or boiling. We had to jump in and out of the shower as it was far too hot to stand under. Also had to add cold from the kitchenette to our daughter's baths to get it down to temperature. Really would not recommend.

The service is good along with the location, it’s an easy walk to the Metro. Initially we struggled to gain access, there is no signage to suggest you must check in with the Holiday Inn next door, nothing here at the door or on Booking.com. Please get this resolved, we weren’t the first! So we called only to be inform there had no record, eventually we went to the reception desk and they found our booking. We liked to space available in the apartment, the kitchenette is a great idea, the heating is rubbish and it felt cold, I note this was reported 8 months ago so it’s clearly not been fixed, it’s freezing. The shower head won’t stay up, the shower door leaks water onto the floor ridiculously (the cause of the loose tiles). We had loose and cracked floor tiles in the bathroom, which could be dangerous and could cause harm. There is a lack of sufficient cleaning taking place here, the sink was blocked for a start, had the cleaner wiped and cleaned this a blocked sink would have been noticed. There is mould on the edges, I managed to wipe this with my finger alone and it’s very visible. If you can sleep through noise this will be the place for you, Jesmond Road is a fast and noisy track, plenty of loud exhausts doing the trek and you often hear people walking past. We were on the first floor, the simplest trick would have been installing better grade windows rather than cheap UPVC. The bar and breakfast facilities in the main hotel were excellent and worthy though, really lovely brekkie, we spent the evening here for a few drinks and played pool, it was a lovely relaxing evening. The staff on reception and breakfast were excellent, extremely helpful and friendly.

Good place. Close to town. Some hotel patrons though might refuse to park at Holiday Inn’s parking lot and steal yours in front of the apartment. Dodgy WiFi. Some laptops might refuse to connect to it. Some bank apps will refuse to log you in via the apartment’s WiFi. My ChatGPT refuse to work via this WiFi Old and insecure WiFi infrastructure perhaps. Which means this apartment is good for sleeping visiting but NOT if you wanna do computer work in it.
