About West Wood Glamping
Tucked into quiet woodland near Burnopfield, West Wood Glamping offers immaculately kept pods and yurts, each with its own wood-burning hot tub and sweeping countryside views. It's the sort of place where you can properly switch off – soak under the stars, listen to the birds, and let the kids (and dogs) roam safely. The friendly owners keep everything spotless and are on hand with local tips.
You're well positioned for walks through nearby Gibside, a National Trust estate with its famous chapel and winding riverside trails. Open year-round, the site has all the essentials – showers, toilets, drinking water – but no Wi-Fi, which most guests seem to consider a bonus. A genuinely peaceful base for couples or families wanting a proper escape without straying far from Newcastle.

What visitors say
We had such a lovely stay at this log cabin with the fire hot tub. We were greeted so warmly at check-in and shown how to light the hot tub, which was really appreciated. The extra firewood we ordered was all ready for us on arrival too. The pod itself was immaculate and had everything we needed for a cosy, relaxing stay. We especially loved seeing all the animals, the cows, sheep with their lambs, the turkey, and of course Steve the dog who was such a character! It was the perfect little getaway and somewhere we made such special memories together. We’ll definitely be back again in the future.

Just spent 3 days here with my wife for a little break and it was fantastic. The Yurt itself is very comfortable and put together. Basic amenities are able to keep you going just plan your meals. The views are great and the neighbours of cows and sheep are entertaining to just watch. Previous reviews about the hot tub had me worried but it's really easy for the hot tub to get warmed up. Takes about 2 hours before reaching a decent temperature to jump in. Keep an eye on the fire and feed it more wood if it starts to die and leave the lid on to keep the heat in, simple. At one point we put cold in because it got up to 42'C. Donna was really friendly came over and said hello a couple of times just to make sure we were okay and explained what they do on the farm which was nice. It's a 10 minute drive to the nearest shop so if you forget anything it's not a worry. Definetly recommend and will be going back.

We had such a wonderful stay in this glamping pod. It was immaculately clean, surprisingly spacious, and set against the most stunning views. The wood-burning hot tub was the perfect finishing touch so relaxing and made the whole experience feel really special. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend it and will definitely be returning!

I don't even know where to start with this review! Location- wow, you actually feel like you're in the middle of no where, despite being 20 minutes from the metrocentre. Its absolutely beautiful. The yurt- so cozy and homely, just perfect, we paid extra for the hot tub and fire pit, so worth it, sitting in the hot tub, watching the fire in the pit while also watching the cows and sheep, loved the turkeys coming to say hello and the amazing warm welcome from the dogs who loved tummy rubs 🥰. The owners- so friendly and helpful, very easy to contact. I left my laptop there when I left so I rang in a panic, absolutely no need for my panic, they were super helpful. We will definitely be returning. It's the break I didn't know I needed until I was there.
