About Travelodge Newcastle Central

Forster Street sits close to the Quayside, where the Tyne Bridge crosses the river into the heart of Newcastle upon Tyne, and Travelodge Newcastle Central makes the most of that position for anyone wanting the city centre within easy reach. It's a straightforward, no-frills base across four floors with 203 rooms, a lift, and 24-hour reception, welcoming pets as well as guests who need accessible rooms.

Rooms are en-suite with drinks available on request, and past visitors have generally found them clean and roomy with comfortable beds, though some have noted they can get warm, so it's worth bearing in mind in summer. There's a restaurant on site serving breakfast, along with a bar, and the surrounding area has pubs and entertainment nearby for evenings out.

On-site parking is available for a fee, allocated on a first-come, first-served basis once you've registered your vehicle at reception, with the entrance on Pandon Road; some guests have found the charge steeper than expected, so checking current rates in advance is sensible. An electric vehicle charge point is also on site. With the Quayside and Tyne Bridge close by, it's a practical spot for exploring central Newcastle on foot.

Great location for exploring the city and (mostly) polite staff in the hotel and via email communication. Room was a great size. Other than this, I have nothing positive to say. The cleanliness of the parking area was a red flag before even entering the hotel, and things just went downhill from there. The room smelt damp, and the bathroom smelt of urine. We had a used Calpol syringe and all kinds of other rubbish left under the beds in our room, we were gutted. No air con, latched window so barely any airflow, no soundproofing, no toilet brush, hair wrapped round the bath tap. The breakfast was grim and absolutely not worth the money, and that’s before the flies and mislabelled food. Staff coughing into their hands and then touching plates and food was also extremely concerning. At one point, another customer actually asked me for help rather than approaching a member of staff..awks! I appreciate the apologies, respect shown by the staff and good will gesture from the manager, BUT it shouldn’t have needed to happen in the first place. After staying here, I wouldn’t choose to stay at another Travelodge.

We stayed here for 2 nights early August, fortunately it wasn't extremely hot as it had been but the room was still really warm. No air-conditioning but there was a fan in the room. The room was ok and the bed was comfortable. Good location with on site car park, which is a little tight for larger cars. We would stay here again.

Nice place. Very nice staff. Warm welcome and very accomodating. Decent rooms. Comfy beds. Tiny bit of evidence of previous guests but seen worse. Recommend and will return.

I stayed here with my partner, one child and one dog. I personally wouldn't stay here again. The location is great though and I did like that it was dog friendly (£25 per stay for a pooch to join you). Parking is convenient (under the hotel) and cost £28 for 3 days, which I thought was reasonable for a city. The staff were friendly but the facilities are lacking. It was 14-17 degrees outside but the room was consistently swelteringly hot with no air con and a window that doesn't open more than a couple inches. There is a desktop fan in the room, but it was fighting a losing battle. There is no lift to the 5th floor, so best to book a room on a lower floor if you struggle to carry your bags up the stairs. We were told that it's a small flight of stairs, but it's 16... That is pretty much a standard flight of stairs, isn't it? In the room, the bathroom door didn't close as the latch didn't line up and it had no lock. The usb-c ports next to the bed don't work and no plug sockets next to the bed for charging phone etc. One of the sockets on the desk couldn't be used as it had something stuck in the top hole. The shower hose was loose, so I had to tighten it before using the shower. Overall, I was a little disappointed. I understand Travelodge is a budget hotel brand, but this one isn't as good as others that I've stayed in.
