About Castle Inn

The Castle Inn is a traditional 19th-century Welsh stone pub in the heart of Newport, close to the ruins of Newport Castle from which it takes its name, and offers three comfortable letting rooms above its bar and restaurant.

Rooms come with tea and coffee making facilities, television and private bathrooms, while downstairs the inn prides itself on freshly prepared food using ingredients sourced from local Pembrokeshire suppliers wherever possible, served in the bar, restaurant or beer garden.

It is a ten-minute walk from Newport Sands and five minutes from the estuary at Parrog, putting the beach, Coast Path and town's shops and galleries all within easy reach on foot.

What guests say

The staff are what sets this place apart. They were all so friendly, helpful, efficient, attentive and amazing! The food was very lovely too. 5 of us ate there and we all thought it was tasty and well cooked. They were very busy as it was a Friday night and various members of staff came up to us to apologise for the wait and update us that our food was the next out of the kitchen and just generally check that we were OK without us asking. All the staff were so busy, but warm, friendly and welcoming nonetheless.

Booked in for Sunday lunch and had a great time. Wide array of food and drink options. The place itself is very tastefully decorated. Staff were friendly and attentive. All really enjoyed their food, and agreed it'd be great to pop back.

The food was very, very good. We had Sri Lanka Curry and a rib eye steak. Good size portions and delicious . Service from the bar staff and restaurant staff was excellent. Beer - Betty Bach - very nice.

Made to feel very welcome the moment you walk through the door. Had possibly one of the best pints of Guinness outside of Ireland! Food looked good just didn't get chance to try it....next time.
