Morston Hall

We had dinner in the restaurant. The food is very high quality and delicious, as are the cocktails and the wine. Service is a little old fashioned and formal for our tastes, but efficient and professional. The exception was the sommelier, who was much more friendly and took time to chat and make us feel welcome. We had a lovely meal, but the overall experience could have been better if they'd just loosen up a little bit.

I’m going to say from Black Adder ‘Contrafibularities’…Morston Hall is what you want it to be; it is an odd place lacking attention to detail in many areas yet the staff are so delightful and, in a blink, it’s all forgiven. I have to say, the scone I had was probably the worst one I have ever tasted and I like a scone or three! Yet dinner in the restaurant was just superb, the staff wonderful and the food excellent.

We booked to stay for a two night stay which included bed, breakfast and evening meal back in October 2025 when the Hotel was still shown as being the flag ship of Galton Blackiston. When we arrived we found out that the hotel had been sold the previous year. It would have been nice to have been informed of this prior to our arrival. The room and the house keeping were great as were the young staff who were attentive and humorous The meal on the first night the canapes were fantastic as they were on the second night. The Venison en croute came with celeriac which was so under cooked that could not be eaten. I pointed this out to the waiter who made no comment and took the plate away also the venison was tiny in comparison to the mouse that surrounded it The second night the dishes of Hake en croute and the Lamb arrived tepid and on cold plates, the Rum Baba also had very little taste. Being very picky . The food description, a piece of sourdough disk on top of fish is not en croute as sliced avocado on toast in the morning is not smashed as described A chair I sat on in the orangery was broken, again I pointed this out to the staff with no reaction. When we checked out we found that we had been over charged by in excess of £600. Overall I found the experience disappointing. Prior to posting this review I sent a more in depth email directly to the hotel manager on the 20th March and to date have not received any reply. Again very disappointing. John Metcalfe

Little late to review, as it's been over a month since our Afternoon Tea experience. Such a treat! I have done Afternoon Tea in many notable places, in London and Edinburgh, and this has to have been the best. Our server was, Caroline was ever so sweet, and informative, and incredibly kind to my son who is on the autism spectrum. The food itself was delicious- freshly prepared and beautifully presented. it was truly such a memorable treat, and we thoroughly enjoyed it, and have recommended to all friends and family. The venue and grounds are picturesque, with beautiful in the gardens and on the tables. A shame to see a negative review when they clearly did not book in advance- as is the way for such establishments to be able to execute the entire experience as superbly as they do. 10/10. Cant wait to come back.
