Middleton’s Caravan & Camping Park

First class. Andrew the owner welcomed us on our first visit and was so nice and helpful. We could not have asked for a better place to stay. Plenty pitches and Toilet and Laundry facilities all spotless and checked and cleaned every day,Alex the General Manager was also great and puts in a lot of work along with Andrew to keep up the maintenance and family feel atmosphere. We stayed at Middleton’s Campsite a couple of weeks ago and, after a busy time moving house so we’re only just getting around to leaving our review, but it’s definitely worth sharing! We had a fantastic 5-night stay. We originally booked 4 nights through the website and added an extra night directly with the owners, who were incredibly helpful. The campsite is under new management and the improvements are already clear. It’s in a stunning location, looking beautiful in both sunshine and the typical Scottish rain although we lucked out and had fantastic weather until our last day! Lamlash itself is a lovely, peaceful little village with some great places to eat and drink, and the campsite is perfectly placed- just a short walk to the beach, shops and the Co-op. The site is really well kept, with clean toilet and shower facilities. The rain shower was powerful, hot and very welcome after a day exploring. The campervan and motorhome facilities are easy to use, with convenient grey and black waste points, and new fresh water taps have been added around the site so you’re never more than a few metres away from one. There’s a lovely grassy area in the middle of the site for tents, with picnic benches that everyone can enjoy. The wildlife around the campsite adds to the charm, but the real stars are the resident cockerels and chickens, some of which are rescue hens. They wander around visiting campers in the mornings looking for treats and are both funny and adorable. Alex was friendly and helpful throughout our stay, and we also had the pleasure of meeting the owner, who was very welcoming and took time to stop and chat with us. It’s clear they are putting a lot of care and effort into transforming the campsite into something really special. Arran is a fantastic place to explore from here. We used the campsite as a base for our campervan and could reach all the places we wanted to visit within around an hour’s drive.

What a fantastic campsite. The location is perfect, a short distance into Lamlash with beautiful views across to Holy Isle. The site is peaceful, well maintained and the facilities are spotless. The showers, toilets and utility area were all exceptionally clean, and everything was easy to access. You can tell a lot of care goes into looking after the park. The owner and Alex were incredibly friendly and welcoming, always happy to help and full of local recommendations. Nothing felt like too much trouble. We’ll definitely be back and can’t wait to see all the improvements planned for the future. A real gem on Arran.

I know I've given this 4 stars but I'm still unsure of this one mainly because of how it is advertised. Was hovering around 3 stars. It is in a great location within walking distance of Lamlash. The kids didn't even moan it's too far. The facilities were clean and kept clean throughout our stay. However, none of the pitches have a view of the Holy Ilse as seen in the pictures I've uploaded. That view does not exist from anywhere on the site. Neither do those nice looking individual electric hookups. I know they're AI generated pictures but still it gives a very misleading representation of what you actually get. Each hookup station has 4 points and in our case a splitter was used so we had 5 plugged into one station point. Few of the others around the site did too. So it was a bit crowded with cables around where we had parked up. They're not nice little individual pitches with your own personal electric hookup. Your sharing with potentially 5 other pitches. Which is a lot. It really needs to have clearly marked pitches otherwise it just becomes messy. Which it was. The pricing structure is also misleading and had us scratching our heads wondering how it got so expensive. The price is per pitch and 1 adult. Not 2 adults. Which is bizarre. So your already adding to the advertised price unless your a Jack Nicolson About Schmidt type of traveller. We couldn't see any tariffs for what your actually paying for and had to work it out by removing things and then adding them again. Your kind of stuck for choice though as there's not really anywhere else you can go in Lamlash. It has the potential to be a really cracking site. Yet it's really Lamlash itself that gets it up to 4 stars. If this site was anywhere else other than Arran it would be 3 stars.
