This converted barn dates back centuries and retains its listed character while offering everything a modern holiday needs. Built from stone and now sensitively updated, The Threshing Barn sits in the hamlet of Patchole, surrounded by farmland on the edge of Exmoor. The location is genuinely rural—a car is essential—but the beach lies 2.5 miles away and Barnstaple is 20 minutes' drive.
Inside, two bedrooms sleep four: one with a zip-and-link super king and an in-room roll-top bath; the other with a super king and in-room shower. The ground floor contains a living room with woodburner and smart TV, plus a kitchen with electric and gas hobs, dishwasher and dining area that opens to the garden. A utility room and separate toilet complete the layout. Heating, electricity, bed linen, towels and wifi are included. One well-behaved pet may stay, kept on a lead in the 3-acre paddock that comes with the property.
The barn has a courtyard with patio seating and a small grassed area immediately outside. The wider grounds include an unfenced stream, so families with very young children should take care. Parking for two cars is private, and there's a bike store. The water supply comes from a well and waste goes to a septic tank—both are standard for the area and nothing guests need to manage. No smoking inside.
