The Wherry
North Norfolk
The Wherry opens onto a riverside setting on the Bure, with ground-floor living space that flows straight onto a veranda and garden. Upstairs, bedrooms overlook the water from a balcony. The layout suits a group wanting plenty of room to spread out: three bedrooms (two doubles, one with two singles) and two bathrooms mean no queuing, and the main living area combines dining and sitting space with a television and DVD player. The kitchen has an oven, gas hob, microwave, dishwasher and washing machine, so cooking and cleaning up are straightforward.
Bed linen comes with the booking; gas heating and a coin meter for electricity cover the essentials. There is private parking on site, and a pub within a mile. The garden has furniture and opens to direct river access, though the ground slopes with three steps down from the veranda. A mooring on the Bure is part of the property. Wroxham's shops and restaurants are three-quarters of a mile away; Norwich lies twenty minutes by car. Sandy beaches at Waxham and Sea Palling are roughly twelve miles north. The riverside location appeals to those wanting a quiet base rather than a busy holiday centre—though the water means this is not suitable for young children without close supervision. No smoking indoors.
